Did Indiana miss an assignment all game? Incredibly coached football team. One if the highest level games I've seen in a long time.

Indiana is the #1 football team in the country.

Think about that.

Curt Cignetti & Indiana were not gonna 'play not to lose' against the Buckeyes

So in mid-season, 2023 before Indiana approached him, would Curt Cignetti have come to Baylor as head coach? Yeh I know our administration loves Aranda or can't stomach the payout, but with that simple call and difficult in-season decision could Cignetti have accomplished here what he has at Indiana, understanding he performed in the Big Ten which may be giving him a slightly higher profile than had he come here and performed in the Big 12.

Aranda would have had us throw a bubble screen or run it up the middle

Literally no one thought he would do what he has done at Indiana when he was hired. The ones who hired him thought he did great at JMU and he was part of the Saban tree and thought he could get Indiana bowl eligible. They never thought this. So retro thinking of "we should have hired Cignetti" is a bit silly. No one saw this coming.

For every Curt Cignetti there's a Mike Norvell. And there's way more Norvells than Cignettis.

From Wiki

Cignetti is a five-time conference coach of the year and the 2024 national coach of the year. He is the only college football coach to have started 10-0 with two different teams in consecutive seasons, achieving this unique distinction with James Madison University in 2023 and Indiana University in 2024. During his first season at Indiana, he was named the Big Ten Coach of the Year after leading the Hoosiers to a program-record 11 wins and their first-ever College Football Playoff berth. In 2025, he repeated as Big Ten Coach of the Year as Indiana completed the first 120 regular season in school history and won their first Big Ten Conference title since 1967.

Cignetti was born June 2, 1961, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He is the son of Hall-of-Fame coach Frank Cignetti Sr. Cignetti played quarterback for the West Virginia Mountaineers from 1979 to 1982 under head coaches Frank Cignetti Sr. and Don Nehlen.
Thank you Miami Hurricanes. 10-3. :)

Curious if Indiana will have the same level of success when he moves on as JMU had this year. It's something to say you have been the HC of 2 programs that are in the playoff the same season. 1 of which was still transitioning out of FCS in 2023.

Don't do it Curt. Remember Saban's struggles in NFL. It is just a different group to coach.

The track record of college coaches moving to the NFL does not seem great...but escaping the hell of dealing with NIL must be tempting.

Although...I'm sure the NFL has certain headaches you don't get in college .

I wonder what he will do.

The NFL offers some rules regarding contracts, free agency and a salary cap.

Then again, part of me wonders is Ohio State is leaking this to try to ruin Indiana's mojo going into the playoffs.

I would think if he doesn't have interest in Michigan he wouldn't leave for the NFL. But who knows? Hat I do know is over his 15 year career as a HC he has won over 80% of his games. He has lost 1 or 2 at Indiana over 2 years. This is astronomical. If he stays at Indiana he can end up an historic figure in college football like Rockne, Bryant or Royal. I personally believe he would be foolish to leave for the NFL. That said if he goes and flops, perhaps we could get him when he returns and tries to rebound in college if the timing is right and we need a new HC if or when that occurs.
Jorkel

My guess is he isn't going anywhere. He wants to win Indiana a championship and seems to enjoy it there. Is the NFL going to pay him significantly more than $11.6 million for a first time nfl coach?
