This post is based primarily on matters of public record found in the Harvey Report (the weekly summary of all matters filed with the County Clerk/District Clerk). The Harvey Report lists such matters as real estate closings, tax liens, mechanics & materialmen's liens, bankruptcies, probate filings, powers of attorney and divorce filings).
The alleged paramour is shown as having filed for divorce the week of Nov 10-14. The petitioner (i.e., the one filing for divorce) is listed first. Her name is listed first. Filings are usually listed in chronological order (i.e., ones filed on Monday at the top of the list, on Friday at the end); this filing appears to be the 13th of 24 divorce petitions that week. I would assume then that the petition likely was filed on Wednesday Nov 12 or Thursday Nov 13.
The OutKick report on Mack's sideline confrontations came out on Friday Nov 7. I found a post in a thread on here where a posted commented on seeing Mack on ESPN discussing the CFP rankings released on Tuesday Nov 11, and how haggard he looked.
The BU press release stating he was taking a personal leave of absence was released the morning of Thursday Nov 13, stating the LOA was effective Nov 12. Mack's resignation was made official on Thursday Nov 20.
Now, to discuss matters not in the public record. I too had heard that the cuckolded husband was the one who blew the lid off the matter. Whether (1) he threatened to go to the press, and Mack/BU acted to prevent that, or (2) he went to the press and the press declined to pursue the matter after the LOA/resignation because divorces/affairs are more of a personal matter, with facts that are hard to verify, one may never quite know.
Good lord almighty, the man torched his own family, his own career, his employer, and someone else's family...while he was at the height of everything...all for the thrill of having a married side piece.
**** all the way off, Mack.
Its an affair. Two scumbags, not just one. There's a guy above in some post not "outing" the woman, like that's noble. Sure if she has young kids maybe it is. But if not, who cares, she's an adulterous lady who betrayed her family and also slept with a married man, betraying another family.
So both parties can be figuratively strung up to dry. He torched his family and her family.
She torched her family and his family.
Affair people are always selfish and scumbags to their families. I only feel sorry for the spouses and the kids.

I thought this was public knowledge. I guess not. Yeah, Mack had an affair. Since I guess it isn't public, I won't out the affair partner, but my friends who live in Waco were all over it and one of them even knows the woman.

Lmao right back at you. Apparently the Michigan guy was doing another Michigan employee. Horse of a different color, don't you think? Again, I wanted Rhodes gone as much as anybody, but if this is what they chose to shove him out the door, then it is classic holier than thou Baylor.

private organizations, like Baylor, have codes of conduct. Whether you think they're puritanical or draconian, doesn't really matter - Mack signed a contract and agreed to conduct himself accordingly.
It's kind of archaic to pretend that a man's home life has no bearing on his work. Of course it's a case by case situation...but in this case a jealous husband threatening to embroil the uni in an ugly scene wasn't something they could ignore, certainly not in combination with his other unprofessional incidents this Fall.

Hmm.. if this husband has an ounce of testosterone.. Mack would have had two bruised eyes during his CFP ranking reveal performance.

No. I would think any news outlet that got word of a scandal would have put out the story right away. Waco trib, Texas monthly, NY Times, or whoever.

The press is not going to run something like that. It's not news. It's gossip. No remotely self respecting news outlet is going to run with that.
Mack/BU would know the same thing. And firing Mack (which Baylor didn't even do) wouldn't change much of anything, because the hens are going to gossip anyway. More likely, Mack was a personal train wreck on multiple levels (including some substance issues) and wasn't doing his job well. The side piece was just part and parcel of the personal train wreck, not the real reason he and Baylor had to part ways.
Coach at Michigan nailing a staffer is completely different. And Bobby Petrino, Major Applewhite, and others have shown you can even fade that, maybe after a job change.

Why y'all care so much? Mack may have already had one foot out the door in his marriage.. same with her.. she may have already emotionally and physically been done with her marriage.. or they had an open one.
What Mack did didn't reach Chris Beard level.
Hell.. maybe they fell in love..
Petrino's issue was that he hired his paramour to a do-nothing role on the football staff, and then covered up that he was paying her while she was his mistress.IvanBear said:Robert Wilson said:whitetrash said:

Petrino's real issue was he hid the relationship (an affair for obvious reasons) but had he not hid it it would have been above board because she was an employee totally disconnected from him.
The best part of the Petrino lore of course is that wasn't a motorcycle accident that put him in that neck brace, that was her boyfriend finding out…. No idea how true that is though.

Yup
Absolutely no way of knowing what was going on with these people.
For all we know, her husband beat her and was on his eighth affair.
That's why it is gossip, not news.

Not that it matters, but I don't think you understood what I was implicating. Baylor, yes Baylor issues a press statement about investigating their AD and at the same time tells everyone it is really not a Baylor related issue,. Why ? They almost assuredly already knew what the truth was when they made the release. If Mac was having an affair with a Baylor employee, or especially a subordinate in his department, they would have grounds to fire him without facing legal challenge, but if it was not a Baylor employee, they needed to force his resignation to keep from having a legal challenge. Baylor has not made a single comment since announcing the investigation and the press has not touched the issue either. Coincidence ?? I am sure Baylor had no influence in making the situation simply go away. Mac was only making close to $10,000/day on his contract, what would a buyout have cost? Problem solved, the Baylor Way.

Ok, I didn't follow you. When you said "keep this story" out of the local paper or make a statement to the press, I assumed you meant the subject of this thread. Yes, Baylor basically said to the public 'this is none of your business' and left it at that. And Baylor was correct in doing so.

My point is ALSO , Baylor was the one that brought this to the public space, not Mac or the woman. I am in no way condoning the behavior or moral issues surrounding this issue, however Baylor showed little concern for the woman's family [ especially children if any ] and the embarrassment by bringing this into the public sphere. That goes for Mac's children as well . If you intend to do an internal investigation of something that is not illegal, only morally wrong, you do not broadcast it to the
public as innuendo . You proceed
, in private, with finding the facts and then confronting the parties , in private, if there is a problem. This was NEVER an issue for the public

OK What was Baylor's reason for making ANY disclosure of an internal investigation ?? Look up the definition of innuendo for reference. People outside Waco won't know or care who the woman is, but I will bet that is not the case in Waco.
