Don't forget we also kept Dave to ensure roster and recruiting class stability and portal desirability. I added that last half to Linda's rationale found in her profound letter. I mean why wouldn't a portal player want to come to Baylor for Dave's lame duck coaching year in 2026. Front row seat to watch the epic dumpster fire?

With the number of BU players that have entered the portal, it would be somewhat amusing if the portal players BU is targeting said "nah, not interested even with the $$". Leaving Yoda with an incomplete roster. How would Linda respond to that?

She'd find a new excuse. Like the new AD hasn't had time to work his magic.

There was an article in the DMN business section where university team physicians were starting to back away from their positions. Their fear is that they might get sued by players and their agents if they provide a diagnosis of an injury that might result in the player's market value in the portal declining.

It just gets more insane. Perhaps someone smarter than me on the subject can explain why the players would want a collective bargaining agreement to place them more under NFL type rules. Right now, they basically can do whatever they want, whenever they want and it seems nothing can be done about it. Everything that is proposed to be done that would bring some sort of stability to this wild west scenario is reported to be inviting a lawsuit.

I would guess that is all universities, not just Baylor. If Texas Tech indicates an offer of $500,000 and the team Doctor is worried about a knee, elbow or concussions and Tech backs away I can see why a player would possibly be interested in litigation. Never thought about that but it does have the ring of truth.

I suppose Tech could indemnify the doctor but maybe the Doctor does not want the hassle.

college football is FUBAR.

I would think the players would want it as more and more of them that enter the portal and don't find a new team realize they needed protections.

Well first things first, we need a QB.

Our bench has little to no experience so we need a veteran in the room

TT just got the #1 QB in the portal. Did we try to get him? Now he will play against us.

TCU also got a good one from Harvard

We're chasing some kid from Auburn with an atrocious TD to INT ratio. The gap is building between us and the rest of Texas

Sorsbee was the #1 qb in the portal more than Leavitt? We already played against him and his team beat us but he doesnt seem to be the best qb that beat us this year.

Sorsbee might be Ryan Leaf, or he might be Peyton Manning, or he may be somewhere in between Time will tell.

Sources have indicated that he was signed at $4-5M for one year, and, if Baylor had that kind of money for one player for one season, it would be at least a co-favorite to win the Big 12 in 2026.

If we were to get the guy, you could almost guarantee that he would be hurt for the season in the first game. It is some times like "War Games". The way to win is just not to play. I think for a lot of schools that is going to be the case.

As long as we don't sign Jamarcus Russell
