So i've said it in the past, and I know it's going to piss some people off, and whatever - yall can come shoot me, I don't care. The current state of NIL, as well as the yearly cost and deficit that our athletic department runs is not sustainable for a university like Baylor, and we need to consider making a concerted effort to reduce our outright drop the NIL program and move to a smaller conference like CUSA or the Sunbelt. Somebody in another thread stated that the yearly cost to run a modern P4 athletic department is something like 100 million. And when you factor in the general growing cost of tuition? Nah

I do sincerely appreciate the generous donors that have brought us this far

I think that makes sense. And I know it is not just Baylor facing this. There are many programs in P4 in a similar situation.

Schools are going to be forced and into some really difficult decisions if a significant overhaul to the current system does not take place soon.

It is sustainable for a while for a lot of teams in the Big 10 and SEC, and probably Notre Dame. But eventually it will stagnate even at that level.

Otherwise, I agree. If there re no sensible regulations for NIL and how it is defined, and it remains totally out of control, there is a definite need for a separate division of college football that more resembles actual college football and not a big time pro league sponsored by universities. And that's probably where Baylor would belong.

I stopped donating when they fired Art Briles.

I reckon a lot of other people did to.

Don't much care for folks taking my money and lighting it on fire.

Just trying to do my civic duty for the sickness you boys have been unable to shake. I'm making headway. Keep the cards and letters of support coming!

All of this is why I think, within 5 years, Baylor will be playing in a league like Conference USA.

Didn't TCU make it to the Rose Bowl playing in Mountain West or some such.? Not sure how they funded those good teams back in the day but they enjoy championship s. Dropping down won't be horrific if we support at the equal or above level of competition

Nobody likes to talk about this FACT. Particularly here on this board.

TCU and BU are nearly mirror programs although all-time they are better.

53% win percentage to Baylor's 49%
17 conference championships to Baylor's 9
1 National Championship to our 0
35 bowl appearances to Baylor's 28

The current NCAA setup is not sustainable and it should not be anyway.

The inmates are running the system. Literally.
