IMO, there is no "right side"; only poor leadership side.

But we're long past that and can't go back. The real question is whether or not BU can lead into the future of a challenged D1 program to be successful.

I'll be there for the 5A D1 night cap.

Wandered in here, and decided to check on who made the finals.

Smithson Valley? Is a 5A school? The one in Spring Branch?

Go Stephenville!

I'll be covering the Stephenville game. I was at last week's state semifinal win over Celina, which was a classic.

This Yellow Jackets team is really, really good and has no overt weaknesses. Their lines on both sides of the ball are excellent. I have trouble believing there's a better team in Class 4A Division I, but we'll see Friday morning.

I was at the game too. I thought the Celina QB was better and was pretty hard on the Stephenville QB. Then he trucked that Celina DB and I was a huge fan after that. I believe that was the drive where the RB fumbled it back on the flea flicker...but the S'Ville QB had a much much better 2nd half than he did the 1st.

Trot Jordan (Stephenville's QB) is a good player, but he played really poorly in the first half. Other than McClendon, the entire Yellow Jackets team struggled to get out of its own way early. But I thought they were pretty clearly the stronger team up front on both sides, and eventually that paid off.

Celina was really tough, though. And that QB of theirs was a really good, scrappy player. They damn near stole one from the Yellow Jackets.

Don't underestimate the Bulldogs. Tough team on a roll.

I'm excited to see how it plays out, but Stephenville's defensive front is ridiculous. Kilgore is going to have to beat them through the air because you can't run on that defense.

Kolton Dearth (#70), the son of former New York Jet James Dearth, is an absolute monster in the middle of that D-line. Dude can't be moved. I've thought for years that he should have a better offer list than he does.

I wouldn't be at all surprised to see him have the same type of breakout in Arlington that Coy Eakin had several years ago and earn himself new opportunities with his play in this game.

Dearth made like the first 4 plays of the 2nd half. We loved his name - so fitting for a DL tackle.

S'ville was stronger - but had a large number of 1st half mistakes that just kept costing them big time, which kept Celina out front.

That little WR for Celina (#2) was a stud. Best skill position player on the field!

I agree with all of this. That little No. 2 was slippery as hell.

Stephenville's running back, Zyler McClendon, is the only skill guy I might have taken ahead of him in a draft. Those were the two best playmakers on the field -- not counting the quarterbacks.

But I left super impressed with Celina. They couldn't match Stephenville on the lines, but that was a really good, really tough football team. And they almost won despite the gap in line play.

Kilgore has allowed just 3 points in the last 4, yes that is FOUR, Playoff games.

How is their offense? What do they have at QB? RB?

How many big time commits?

(I know nothing of Kilgore tbh - no idea who wins this game.)
