For all the hype, the aggys basically went 2-2 when not playing the bottom half of the SEC or a cupcake non-con opponent.
Thats the game with the big 2 conferences now. Crap schedules and pretend records
At SC we heard for years what a joke of a conference the PAC was. So if the B1G and SEC are now, as well, who is the best conference? The XII?
Personally I think it's less about the conference than it is the OOC teams that teams within any given conference are wiling tol play. Some teams are better at scheduling better schools OOC than others.
Stating the obvious, I know, but every conference, in any given season, has two or three teams who are really good, some who are .500+, and then the rest who aren't great. It is what it is. The question is who are they scheduling OOC. And which teams do the best at that?
I'd be interested to see which teams have the best record against the better teams they play? Including the better teams in conference in any given year, as well as their better OOC foes in that same year.
Next year SC has Ohio St., Indiana, and Oregon in conference. ND is still an OOC contender. Those four alone could (will?) create problems. But again, it's a typical schedule. Except one of our OOC teams is a contender. And Fresno St. who we also have next year, went 8-4 this year.
UCLA, while not a real thorn in our side lately, has rivalry-induced ramifications so whoever knows on that front. But that's the case for all teams who have pesky rivals. I will be interested to see how the Bruins do the next two seasons considering their OOC schedules aren't bad, and they play neither OSU or Indiana the next two seasons. They do have Oregon, but that's it.
And depending on who Penn St. secures as a coach, and if it is Campbell, who knows what happens there. That could be a problem.
It will be rough. I doubt any of the big four we're playing go belly up. The question will be how well do the other teams fare next year.
The other OOC team we have is Louisiana, so hopefully that is at least a game of some respite.
