Who yall got in the quarterfinals ?
Ohio St (closer game imo then predicted)
Oregon (will be the best of the 4 quarterfinal games)
Alabama (just a hunch that they pull a stunner)
Georgia (peaking at the right time)
Those are my guesses

Just now seeing this as the game tonight is already almost to halftime.

I will be interested to see if it plays out like last year where the team that had the long break struggles.

Last year everyone said it was bad seeding so this year the 4 highest ranked teams got a bye but they all still have had 25+ days off while the others have had shorter breaks more like a normal bye week with a game in between.

Yeah I won't be shocked if 1 or even 2 of the teams who got byes lose tomorrow. Already 0/1 on my guesses though. So maybe I'm dead wrong on all of em

TT vs. Miami would be a sweet final game.

Looks like TT is heading that way.

The long breaks seem to be a huge disadvantage for playoff teams.

Playoff scheduling needs to be overhauled.

Either:

1) Go to 16 teams and eliminate bye
2) First round needs to be week after conference championships and have each round be the following weekend. Who cares about forcing games on New Year's Day.

Exactly.

The bowls can move to match the schedule or be left behind. No more accommodating the bowls. I could care less about the playoffs being held at the rose bowl, sugar bowl or just being a playoff game.

I don't care that the rose bowl is the oldest. The stadium is crappy and when I watch on tv the location of the game does not matter.

For the fans it would be better to go to home field anyways. Attendance would increase.

I created a separate thread about going to a 24-team format, which would pretty much solve all problems.

Conference championship game participants would earn a bye into the 2nd round (round of 16), and their playoff runs would begin just two weeks after Championship Saturday (instead of being off for almost a month).

The non-championship game participants would have the same mini-bye of sorts (as their time off would start after the regular season finales). Their 1st round games would take place the week after Championship Saturday.

FCS already does 24 teams, and it works just fine.

A 24-team FBS format would be fair to everyone, and would actually make things more exciting. It would also reward regular season excellence, and basically ensure that all of your Top 16 teams would get to host a playoff game.

I would stop at 24 though.

But, but, but Paul finneidiot said that none of the semi finalists would make it going through an SEC schedule…. Because you know now that none of the big SEC names are in the semis he feels the need to stress it was the tough schedule that "wore" down the SEC schools too much making them unable to win in the playoffs and that is why they are still the better teams.

I've been going back and forth on these quarterfinal matchups, but I'm leaning toward the teams with steadier defenses pulling it out late. Hard to ignore how much momentum matters this time of year. I've even used Sportsbook Promotions before just to get a feel for how different odds shift during the week, which sometimes helps me gut-check my picks. For this round, I'm expecting at least one upset to shake things up.

I'm calling it right now.

Indiana vs Miami in the Championship game, and Indiana scores late to win 28-21.
