Makes me wish we had a real HC. Not some lame duck teddy bear like Dave Aranda.

A Cignetti type would never work here. Too much of a big meanie.

Oregon and Miami have 40 4 stars total. Indiana has 8, and there are still people that say talent only matters

The crazy thing is Cignetti isn't even a big mean coach. He is as stoic as Aranda on the sideline, but has personality outside the lines, knows exactly what he wants from every position on the team including coaches. Total control of the program and NIL. He is basically figuring out what Nick Saban couldn't do in this Era

But he's a "get out of my fkn way, and let me do my job" type guy. That was NEVER going to work with Mack because of his ego

Hopefully, Doug gets it right.

Shows how much we are lacking in the Strength and Conditioning department

Yeah and where does that start?

The Head Coach. We have just a place holder.

I visualize the AD with an infant Safety Harness with Tether Straps being restrained by LL, who is led by the
BOR Baptist Deacons. Success is weak at best.

If a short bus keeps pulling up on campus daily, then we know how Dougie gets to work.

He is not handling the money. He is identifying WHO THEY WANT, not who is interested in coming. This isa quote.

"However, the 67-year-old admitted in an interview before the Peach Bowl that he doesn't ask questions as to where his NIL donations go. "Just win m-----------," he said.

Cuban told Front Office Sports this week that he's "already committed for this portal."

When asked how much, he joked that "Let's just say they are happier this year than last year."
His efforts gave Indiana a head start in recruiting: with the program set to lose 2025 Heisman winner Fernando Mendoza, the Hoosiers secured TCU quarterback Josh Hoover as his replacement."

That is much different model than what Baylor has been doing. BU needs to hire someone to manage personnel and payroll. This is a professional organization now. That is the future. Otherwise, we will be a player developer and if they are any good the big boys will take them. Or, we move down in class to compete.

Otherwise it is more of this, no matter who is the Head Coach. I could care less if it is Aranda or Saban. Without the players, they ain't winning.

Stop tainting my threads, Mrs. Aranda.

Moreover, I'm not reading your bs.

Way Cool Dave sucks. This is his last opportunity at ever being a HC. That says a lot. It all starts with the HC.

You are the only one talking about Aranda.

If you don't get competent people on the NIL side you are not winning. Hire whoever you want as HC. Could care less, if they win you will be in love and on your knees.

It all starts with the HC.

What I am saying that if all things constant, Cignetti could come here today, and be better than Aranda the second he steps on campus.

I don't doubt that. I agree with you.

Cignetti has a system and he will run his system that he knows works, if the players don't perform he will get new players. It should get incrementally get better from year to year.

But, if he can't get the players. The difference, unlike Aranda, he will move on and go to the place he CAN get the players to run the system he knows works. As he said - Just win mother****er...

I am hoping the new AD sees what is going on around us and makes the adjustments to get the HC AND the NIL people to win.

A HC by themselves will not do it. Something you said earlier sums it up. Cignetti couldn't work with Mack. You are right, Cignetti would leave. Case in point, Rhule. Good coach. We were not able to keep him and he saw something that said go to the Panthers. (May have just been he wanted NFL, but also there was no draw to stay)

Don't always agree with Herbstreit.

But he was right on this one.

Last year, Indiana was suspect and probably should have been on the outside looking in.

This year was a COMPLETELY different story, however.

The schedule was a bit more challenging this go-round, and they won every single game.

This included road wins at Iowa and Oregon, along with beating #1 Ohio State in the Big Ten Title Game.

They earned it this year.

Thing is Cignetti isn't the "mean" type that is pushed in the media. Quirky and tough.. yeah. But not a Saban style grind 24/7 dude.

He's just a hell of a lot more savvy and smarter than most coaches. Gifted in scouting and is ultra efficient (think this is the most under-rated attribute). The lock everyone in the building for 15 hrs a day to signal you work hard is something he doesn't believe in at all.

But he would not be accepted here, I agree. He wouldn't hold the hand of the AD and PR/press guys everyday and he would not pull the aw shucks, they're played hard and are good guys routine after poor performances. Maniacal attention to detail and process would be frowned upon at BU, I agree.

Herbstreit knows football.

Sports center replayed this last night. He basically called out Miami a few years ago and told them to either get serious about football or not .

Since then they've aligned from the President.. to the AD.. to head coach.. to donors..
