3rd year in a row and no SEC champ.

If the BCS still existed this year, it would have been Ohio State vs Georgia and we'd have another offseason hearing about how great the SEC is.

The reality is that Roy Kramer, the SEC commissioner, was the architect of the BCS and the BCS was a two-team funnel that reinforced SEC dominance. It reflected sec scheduling philosophy, bowl relationships, media influence, style of play and branding. It rewarded preseason rankings, brand, conference reputation and media perception. Since the SEC had a few early BCS wins, the system kept feeding them more opportunities.

The 4 team "playoff" wasn't much better and if anything, the SEC consolidated that even more.

Perhaps the 12 team model, NIL and revenue share has broken their strangle hold. I fully expect them to win again in the near future, but its nice to get back to some normalcy of them not being the "best", because it wasn't always like that.

Ratings are good.

Playing field is more level.

Larger playoff is better.

NIL/portal existing makes the sport more egalitarian, which is good for schools like Baylor. But we've got to get to multi-year contracts and more limited transfers to create some stability within programs.

If the conferences were smart they would do away with the conf champ games and have teams that are on the bubble of the playoff play each other. Like this year instead of a bama/uga rematch have Texas play Vandy for the right to be in the playoff. Also, the b12 coulda had byu/utah rematch for the right to be in the playoff rather than tech dog stomping byu again. Also, maybe ND and Miami coulda played each other for the right to be in the playoff or something along those lines. There are several changes that need to be made to make the playoff selection better.
