Was in Waco that day for another reason, had the rest of the day free, and thought seriously about seeing the game. Drove down Dutton to the parking entrance and came within a hair of turning in. To this day am glad I didn't.

We've been to Wethersfield, Connecticut. There is a large community of original structures of businesses, a church, and homes from the Colonial era and earlier in the historic district, still in use, with 3 incredible homes where Washington stayed days meeting with advisors to plan the decisive 1781 Battle of Yorktown that secured victory for America in the Revolution. Amazing.

Generally not in relation to conferences. Someone just posted the record of Rutgers and Maryland against ranked B1G teams (both are 0-fer). There were multiple teams that would have been better adds to the American than UAB, Charlotte or FIU, but they went with location. Very little of conference realignment has been driven by the success of the programs.

The American will never get big TV ratings. It's stupid to chase them. The same is true on a slighlty larger scale for the Big 12 honestly.

Every league below the Power 2 is best off focusing on their on-field/on-court product. The only way for any of the other leagues to earn respect is to earn it with their play.

I think the American finally realizes this and is bolstering its lineup to remain the top G6 conference as the PAC-12 tries to usurp it with a respectable lineup of schools out west. They're basically just scaling the Fun Belt's strategy.

Absolutely. A 24-team playoff is going to be awesome. Every other level of college football has had a 24-team field (or larger) for years, and they're super fun.

The great thing about an expanded field is that we can finally let meaningless bowl games die (or just become showcase exhibitions for the G6) and allow the playoff to serve as the only postseason for all P4 teams.

And once you have an expanded field, you'll see a hierarchy of achievement established like what we have in the NCAA tournament, where a trip to the Sweet 16 and Elite Eight is virtually universally celebrated.

For some teams, making the field will be a huge deal. For others, winning a game will be massive. For most, a trip to the quarterfinals or semifinals will be program-changing. Etc., etc.
