In a social media post on Thursday morning, Baylor Athletics appeared to reveal that McLane Stadium will receive a lighting upgrade ahead of the 2026 season.

The new lighting system would give Baylor more flexibility with its in-game presentation, particularly for night games. The Bears will be able to use different lighting effects during pregame introductions, touchdowns and other moments throughout the game. LED lights have become increasingly popular across college football in recent seasons.

The upgrade is the latest addition to McLane Stadium as Baylor prepares for its 13th season at the venue. The Bears have called McLane home since 2014 after moving from Floyd Casey Stadium, where they played for more than six decades.

Baylor could debut the new lighting system when it hosts Prairie View A&M on Sept. 12. The matchup is scheduled for 7 p.m. CT and will be streamed on ESPN.

I temember getting an email from BBF talking about an upgraded lighting system along with other stadium improvements when Mack was still AD.

And like i said 'iniative'. Do you know what that means?

We both are probably right. Macks idea ..but Doug got.it across the finish line.

yea that wasnt led lighting. That was ribbon boards being updated and the small secondary scoreboard being added in the gap above the endzone.

Mack had absolutely zero to do with this upgrade.

Great new lights that flash multi colors! I sure hope they got bigger sound system so they can blast the music louder too. Just shine these lights on our dismal HC and hope the new lights chase him away.

CAN WE JUST HAVE THE BAYLOR BAND PLAY WITHOUT THE EXCESSIVE BLARING HYPE NOISE!

Agree! I'm a huge fan of college marching bands in terms of what they uniquely add to the college game experience. Can't stand the constant ear-splitting music. Now and then is fine but the default should be "cue the band!"
