The issue isn't that he went for it. The issue is we didn't execute. There's no difference between not placing the ball in front of the TE at the end of the 4th or the end of triple OT.

I agree with you Mitch. Ultimately, the issue is that this guy doesn't win. We can sit here and talk about whether it was strategically the right decision or not, but Dave loses too many games on last second Hail Marys, or in this case, on the outcome of one or more really small details that we failed to execute. Good coaches get the small details correct; mediocre and bad coaches often get the big things correct and then lose games because of the small details

Brother Bear and Sister Bear loved football.
They loved the marching band, the roaring crowd, the smell of popcorn, and most of all, they loved watching their team win.
But lately, with Coach Dave Bear leading the team, winning had become a little harder.
One Saturday afternoon, Brother and Sister sat with Mama and Papa Bear in their favorite seats. The Bears were playing a team that everybody had said was not very good.
"They've got a first-year coach," Brother said.
"And lots of transfers," Sister added.
"We should win this one easily," Papa Bear said.
But the game did not go the way the Bears had hoped.
The Bears fumbled.
They missed a tackle.
They threw an interception.
Still, somehow, they kept fighting.
With only seconds left, the Bears scored a touchdown.
The crowd went wild!
Now they were only one point behind.
"Come on, Bears!" shouted Brother.
"We can win this!" cried Sister.
Dave Bear gathered his players around him.
"We're going for two!" he announced.
Brother and Sister held their breath.
The quarterback took the snap.
He scrambled to the right.
A defender grabbed him.
He stretched the ball toward the goal line…
BUT HE WAS STOPPED!
The referee signaled.
NO GOOD!
The game was over.
The Bears had lost.
Brother Bear stared at the scoreboard.
Sister Bear looked at Papa Bear.
"Does this mean we had a bad game?"
Papa Bear shook his head.
"Not necessarily," he said.
"But we lost," said Sister.
Papa Bear smiled.
"Yes. But sometimes, a team can lose the game and still win something much more important."
Brother and Sister looked at him curiously.
"What?" they asked.
Papa Bear stood proudly.
"A MORAL VICTORY!"
"A moral victory?" said Brother.
"That's right!" Papa Bear explained. "We didn't win the game, but we showed great effort. We fought hard. We came back when everyone thought we were finished. And we were only one play away from winning!"
"But we didn't win," said Sister.
"No," Papa Bear admitted.
"The two-point try was stopped."
"Yes."
"On the goal line?"
"Yes."
"So we lost?"
Papa Bear thought for a moment.
"Well… technically."
Brother looked at Sister.
Sister looked at Brother.
"But here's the important thing," Papa Bear continued. "Our opponent was actually a pretty good team!"
"But yesterday you said they weren't very good," Sister reminded him.
Papa Bear cleared his throat.
"Well… they were sneakily good."
Just then, Coach Dave Bear came onto the field.
"Boys!" he called. "Hold your heads high! There are no moral losses!"
"Isn't that the same thing as a moral victory?" Brother whispered.
"I think so," Sister whispered back.
Coach Dave Bear gathered his players around him.
"We may have lost today," he said, "but someday, if we keep working hard, we might win!"
"When?" asked one of the players.
Coach Dave Bear smiled.
"Next year."
And so Brother and Sister Bears went home feeling much better.
They had learned an important lesson that day.
Sometimes you win.
Sometimes you lose.
And sometimes you get stopped on the goal line while trying to win the game, but everybody agrees that you actually won something anyway.
It was, Papa Bear explained, a moral victory.
And that was almost as good as winning.

Losing that game would certainly make the seat scorching hot. But it would probably take a series of terrible performances over next several weeks to make a move.
I'm just going to watch and do what I have been doing for years. I'm hoping to see the evolution of a coach learning from past experience and showing he has made strides toward what we hoped he would be back on 2020.

It's not trolling. I saw a Baylor person on Facebook the other day that was pontificating about how Baylor "may be bad at football, but we are losing the right way". You could just tell the guy was clutching his pearls while he typed it.
And as I said before after the loss Saturday, Baylor fans who have any sort of expectation of winning are very much in the minority amongst our fan base. As long as our fans can show up to the golf course and get a pat on the back from their SEC buddies for trying hard and holding their heads up high, they are perfectly satisfied with the status quo

Yes, I believe that Baylor can find a better coach than Dave. Dave is not a winner, and if the new coach doesn't work out, hey, we tried. Again, we are talking about replacing a coach that lost to Air Force and Texas State after having weeks/an entire off-season to prepare for both. Another way of saying this is how hard is it to replace a coach that doesn't win games? Not that hard
It's more difficult to answer your second question, because you didn't proofread what you wrote, and it's difficult to understand. No one on here expects Baylor to turn into Georgia. Nobody on here expects Baylor to routinely compete for the big 12 championship every year or heck, most years. I DO expect Baylor to make a bowl game every year and compete for the big 12 championship every three or four years. I DO expect not to get blown out. I DO expect us to not lose to clearly inferior programs as stated above. I also expect a coach at Baylor to be a force multiplier and not simply a CEO that blows through coordinators like hotcakes and hopes and prays that this year's iteration of potential scapegoats works out

I think you're really caught up on this idea that winning is purely a function of money. reality is more nuanced than that. Coaches that punch above their weight by coaching their team to be better than the sum of their individual talent is very much a thing. The Navy coach comes to mind, and's that's just one example. Briles was winning with two and three star guys because of his scheme and coaching. The list could go on and on. Frankly, I think this idea that little old Baylor can't do better than Dave is a coping mechanism

Damn right they are. You get what you invest. BU invests average money and gets average returns. Some would say we out performed our investment with the B12 Championship, Sugar Bowl win. But, that was long ago under a different system.
You believe you can get a "winner" today. A winning coach that wins year in and year out for the 49th highest salary? Investing #40 level NIL? You invest average, you get average. We are very average, in an average to bad location, at a highly religious school... I am sure the next Sabans are lined up...
