I'm not arguing about Dave but to his credit he at least was a coordinator. Dabo was a position coach that knew how to run a team under the old system. His time is over.

Again, the topic of this thread is people on this board want Dabo as our coach. You may like him better than Dave but he would be an epic failure here. That is my point. Plus, I am a gamecock fan so I hope Dabo loses all his games.

I mean… that's understandable SC's program has been a miserable failure the last several decades. Probably tough watching big brother have all that success while SC wallows in mediocrity. I get that.
This thread started with a discussion about whether Baylor should hire Dabo. This was also a discussion last year. I said in that thread I would mint hire him. The discussion here has turned into Dabo making Dave look competent & Daves better because he uses NIL. Both are laughable comments. Those are what I'm responding to.

Hiring Dabo would be the equivalent for us of when FSU hired Jimbo, except we don't have the resources A&M has to at least put together a formidable roster. I like Dabo, but I think the game has passed him by and I think it would be a disaster for us.

I think you're missing the point. When Dabo hired Morris he signed his own pink slip. Dabo was able to hit on some high school recruiting in NIL age early but he took a top 5 team last year and went 7-6. He's underperformed the last few years. He made a playoff barely and he lost the only game they played. Dave took an unranked team and finished unranked. I don't think most of us saying no to Dabo are saying Dave is great, we're saying Dabo has sunk like a stone. Dave has sunk like a "very small rock"

And went 4-4 in a terrible ACC the two seasons around that year, which still ended with four losses.

Like Florida State, Clemson has every advantage over its conference mates and is still sliding deeper into that mediocre pack by the year.

This would be like bragging about Tech making the playoff one in three (soon to be four) years. That wouldn't be remotely impressive. Like Tech, they should be winning 10 games and making the playoff every year in their league with their resources. Instead, they're fighting it out with the NC State's of the world to go .500 in conference play.

This post is all over the place. Weirdly so, frankly.

First, Dabo does kind of suck right now. He doesn't win at a very high level, gets indignant at any hint of criticism and refuses to adapt or adjust the way he does things to a changing landscape. He's become an annoying, whiny little *****. That doesn't mean he's always sucked. He was obviously one of the game's best for a long time. But those days are over, likely never to return.

Second, I've been plenty critical of Dave Aranda. I didn't like the hire when it was made and I've been ready for a coaching change for three years now. If we don't win eight games this year, I'll be calling for him to be fired again. I just don't see a need to self-flagellate for four months when his fate will ultimately be determined by this team's record.

Lastly, Tech did what they were supposed to do last year with the investment they made. They dominated the conference and made the playoff, which should be the expectation given the investment gap between them and the rest of the league. If they dip below the 10-win threshold and fail to make the Big 12 title game this season -- or any in which they are investing $30-plus million on their roster -- you'd better believe that I'll be critical of Joey McGuire and their program, too.

Being impressed with the defense they put on the field last year, which was one of the three best in the country, doesn't require me to be impressed by the achievements of a team/program that dwarfs its peers in resources. While impressed by the Dodgers' talent level, a team with an effective payroll of $500- plus million should be winning titles, and anything less is failure.

It is not like the guy is losing to Air Force and Texas state

Now, would I just outright hire a head coach that got fired from their previous gig and was like, "I'm doing nothing differently if you hire me". No, probably not. But I'm giving the guy an interview for sure
