It's Monday so if you need something to watch, this is a good 17 minutes.

At 5:55 they list Indiana's coaching search criteria. It's a pretty darn good list of criteria.

  • an experienced, successful coach, (it does not say successful head coach but I think that was the criteria)
  • a high-level recruiter,
  • a proven developer of talent,
  • someone who's had success with quarterbacks,
  • someone with a grasp of transfer portal and NIL,
  • and perhaps most importantly, a winner.
That is a good list for BU or any school to follow in the current NIL era.

Lance Taylor is the guy Baylor should be looking at if they ever decide to get serious about football again. Guys going to be one hell of a P4 coach in the near future

Well if we hire that guy I hope he does so well at BU that his dream school dops money bags on his desk to hire him away. He has a nice story.

I'm still in the Jeff Traylor corner. I also think we could poach Willie Fritz as UH doesn't put much into athletics and he is making less than Aranda.

No, you missed the entire video. It's never a bad idea to watch and listen with understanding before commenting.

Don't know if we could get Fritz. Tilman Fertita has an ego that rivals Jerry Jones and a checkbook to back it. Yes, he lost Tom Herman to Texas, but ... yeah.

I think the Texas State HC is a good fit. Not sure BU is going to be able to attract someone that already has shown success at P4 level.

I definitely do not want a Coordinator. Need someone that already made their mistakes and are looking to make a name at BU as a winner.

Aranda was good for the time after the scandal as antiseptic as they come. But, in this era we need to win.

We have zero chance of hiring Fritz from UH. We should've hired him when he was at Tulane

Kinne is not good enough. If we're going with an in-state coach, hire Traylor.

Between the two, Traylor gets the edge for me as well. If people are interested in finding the Briles archetype again, Traylor is probably the closest thing to it. I like the coaches at Navy, Memphis, Western Michigan, and New Mexico more, but I am not sure how realistic those options are as they all probably could hold what they've got and wait for a big 10/SEC offer, so ultimately a coach like Traylor made be the best we could hope for

Traylor's problem at UTSA is lack resources that exceed even ours, poaching of the kids he has developed, and the fact that he is at UT's stepchild. As good and large as that school is it ought to be at least a 600 lb gorilla. But there really no questions of Traylor's ability.

I'm too lazy to look it up, but a few years ago a guy posted a list of coaching candidates and someone posted about Cignetti on that thread a few times.

Make that poster our AD.

I found this one from 3 years ago. Very interesting thread. My former screen name is Daveisaboveapproach, and I had Willie Fritz and Cignetti in my top five along with Jamie Chadwell and Jason Candle, but plenty of other others were talking about him at that time as well.. Another poster mentioned Charles Huff at Memphis, and he would be a home run hire but is now probably out of our league

Interesting thread. Several sure fire listed coaches then didn't turn out to be so sure fire successful at schools they went to eventually. I remember people crowing for us to go after Billy Napier several years ago believing he was gonna be a guaranteed success as well and we saw how that went at Florida. And then there was Mike Norvell who was gonna be a superstar because he won big at Memphis. Conversely, you have Cignetti who turned out to be all that and more. You just never know until someone moves into the situation.

From past experience, if the premium board releases a list of names, it won't be one of them. This is 100% just my hunch, but I still think it will be Traylor if they do decide to move on from Dave which I think is unlikely. A blind squirrel should be able to win five or six games in the current Big 12, and I truly think that's all it will take for him to retain his job

I agree, you're a clown for paying a monthly fee to read and participate in vitriolic sunshine pumping that is completely divorced from logic and reality, as well as predictions that the owners of the site and wannabe celebrity posters frame as insider info.

He clearly wasn't around when Chad Morris was announced as our new head coach.

edit: or when I was getting called out and/or cussed out by Hobb Howell and others for merely suggesting that a quarterback taking official visits to Notre Dame and Oregon might not actually be committed to our program, even though they were one of our "commits". And lo and behold, that person ended up at Oregon. You'll never get an apology from the premium board cool kids for cussing at you and calling you a fake fan, you'll just get an "aw shucks, I guess my insider info was wrong. Please remember to pay your $13 this month"

Because after all, it is all the Coach. FSU has deeper problems than Norvell. They guy didn't forget how to coach upon arriving in Tallahassee.

You guys underestimate the shift that has occurred in CFB. It is nowhere near the same world. FSU is struggling because Miami, Gainesville (SEC), Orlando, Boca, Tampa, Lauderdale are all better places to be in Florida and pay better. Tallahassee is a hole...

Spend some time there. My brother played there under Bowden and my daughter graduated from FSU, it is not what it was. Norvell was the least of the issues, there is a reason Jimbo won the Natty and left.

Been there

I was temp banned for criticizing Mack Roads pre infidelity

Then I was temp banned again when the whole Mack Roads thing came out and I asked if we were gonna be acknowledged for being right the entire time....

I think it is telling how many good dudes on staff have left.... Travis Roeder being one of them and Brian

Agreed. Brian was the best staff poster there. He didn't carry himself like a celebrity-wannabe and didn't tow the company line. A lot of the good posters that originally came over from 247 are gone as well. I renewed my premium subscription several months back to see if I was missing anything, and it was immediately obvious that I wasn't. Case in point, it says something about the quality of content on the premium board that their posters try to come over to the free board and police positivity

Your sarcasm is duly noted. However, you missed some of my point- which is that FSU appears to me at least ready to make decisions and act on them. And by the way, take a look at where Houston and Oklahoma State fall in the roster money rankings. Sometimes my friend, it IS the coach- if nothing more than to set the standard.
