I think it's a defensive slugfest with DJ hobbled. Sloppy, ugly game. We make a few more big plays in the passing game and pull out a close one, but don't feel a whole lot better about the team. Nothing will really change in this offense or team outlook unless DJ starts to run --- that's what made him the #1 QB recruit in the country --- the combination of being able to run and a huge arm. He was never able to display that at Florida and got injured first drive here, so we really haven't been able to see him play yet.
I was at the first game Vince Young played for UT, which has been the most defining moment for me in college football dynamics. He had one long run and then for the rest of his career people were running open all over the field because eveyrone had their eyes on Vince. Doesn't matter that he couldn't work a progression and threw from his hip level because everyone was so open.
Not saying DJ is Vince, but having a running QB or not makes a huge difference. See BU pre and post Sawyer's injury and Sawyer isn't half the runner DJ can be.
