Weighman of Houston is a fun QB to watch, much like Sam Leavitt of ASU was teh last couple of years

And we have A&M's stupidity to thank for it

A&M whiffed on both Haynes King and Conner Weigman.

There is some chatter on Twitter that Dykes could be fired as early as tonight. That said this is SMU guy who may have an agenda. I have no idea what the buyout is. If really high, I doubt it.

And let's not forget before that they whiffed on Kyler Murray as well. Not going to be surprised if Reed is lighting it up next season as somebody else's star QB.

I had forgotten about that one. Good call.

Odd thing was: Colorado scored on their opening drive, then didn't do squat the rest of the game.

Colorado had a play book? What a surprise that would be. I thank Deon drew up plays in the dirt as game progressed.

I'm counting 5 Big 10 but only 3 SEC. And Big 12 also has 3

Sorry a little late on this one. Also, historian was correct, it is six Big 10. I missed Penn State.

They never should have been ranked. The same as true of the Aggies (no longer), Tennessee, Mizzou, Iowa, and others. (Mizzou and Tennessee deserve to be ranked now after wins on Saturday). The polls this month illustrate their worthlessness with undeserving teams included. Who among them has beaten anybody of consequence?

P2 bias is obvious.

Strange….. two of the purple ones have played for a national title in the past 4 seasons.

Quote:

It was October twentieth, nineteen fifty-six, at Kyle Field in College Station Texas A&M beat fourth-ranked TCU seven to six in a game that got its name from the weather, not the teams.
Winds hit ninety miles an hour, rain and hail stopped play in the second quarter, and more than a hundred and fifty planes at Easterwood Airport got flipped over. The field turned into a hundred yards of pig slop.
The Aggies were coached by Bear Bryant, with John David Crow, Jack Pardee, and Gene Stallings in the lineup. Don Watson threw the game-winning touchdown to Crow, and the defense stuffed TCU's All-American Jim Swink three times at the goal line to hold on. A&M finished that season nine and oh and one, winning the Southwest Conference.

Back when we played regardless of weather. No one died.

Our game against WSU was moved due to a hurricane in 08. There was something weird about it I can't remember if it was moved from a Friday night to the night before or if was moved from a regular Saturday to the Friday night. It was moved up a night though.

I think it got moved up from Saturday to Friday night. Then we didn't really have much impact in central Texas from the storm.

On the other hand, back in 1988 and 1989, Aggy and Bama had a home and home noncon series. In 1988 hurricane Gilbert was barreling across the Gulf, and Aggy preemptively postponed the game in CS from mid September to December. Then Gilbert turned south and hit Veracruz.

A year later, they were playing in Tuscaloosa the week that hurricane Hugo hit Charleston SC. The game went on as scheduled, but it was noted (with giggles) that Tuscaloosa was closer to Charleston than Veracruz was to CS.

Miss St has wins over Missouri and Minnesota (who beat Wash and Mich). Don't don't why they aren't deserving of a ranking unless voters are simply biased by their past history. They sure layed an egg last week though, but I think Bama is pretty dang good.
historian

Bama is pretty good; they usually are even without Saban. Minnesota is probably the same as what they usually are. I don't see Washington or Michigan as very good this year. Michigan lost their opening game to a cupcake! That should disqualify them from the playoffs. Same with Oregon losing to OSU, unless the Pokes win a bunch of games and get a higher seed. Even then, their inclusion is questionable and probably as a 12 seed.

There are too many teams wanting in and there are too many with better resumes and thus more deserving. And they won't all be in the SEC or Big 10.
