Say what you will, but the guy can coach. It's never sexy. Always boringly good football. I'm not surprised…we were never going to keep him, but there is no doubt he saved Baylor football after the BOR decided to try to burn it to the ground.

Rhule is on a roll! Cameo spot on HBO's Lanterns season finale, and about to upset #7 defending national champions!

This year, their offense is actually good. Holgorson's got that unit rolling. They came into this game 10th in the nation in scoring offense and 14th in offensive SP+.

Definitely 2019, like when we (he) ran out to the big lead against OU. And then lost.

22 consecutive losses to ranked teams for Rhule. 32 consecutive losses to ranked teams for Nebraska as a program.

Can he?

0-10 vs ranked teams at Nebraska
0-10 vs ranked teams at Baylor

Canned after 2 terrible years in the NFL ...

He did go 3-5 vs ranked teams while at Temple ...

I would say he is an above average Non-P4 coach.

How he turned that into they myth of a being a great coach ...

Say what you will, but the guy can convince people that he can coach.

What am I missing here? He went up early and tried to sit on a seven point lead and then did nothing in the second half and lost. Sounds about right

I was going to eat crow. But CMR is CMR. Just can win against real competition. Indiana is not even really all that good this year. They are riding on last years Natty. Nebraska is going to regret hiring him, especially extending his contract. He has real limitations as seen in panther debacle.

He can coach

And I do feel that college ball is his specialty and he would do well at Baylor in some alternate world where he came back here

But Nebraska is a dog of a program/school now

Small population state, smallest public college in the Big 10, no local recruiting grounds, no young people remember or care about Nebraska glory years.

It's gonna be hard for him to win consistently there

Which leads back to this:

Be careful what you wish for.

Once Nebraska left the Big XII things went off the rails shortly afterwards, and they haven't been the same since.

Should've stayed in the Big XII.

You clearly didn't watch the game. His kicker missed an easy field goal that would have made it a two-score lead at halftime.

And their offense was aggressive all game. Indiana just has a really good, well-coached defense.

Doesn't watch the game ... talks **** based on lack of knowledge ... acts indignant when called on it.

The entire "You're a Clown" experience in three posts.

Good for Matt. I hope he stays in Nebraska for the rest of his career.

He also almost beat Oklahoma twice in the same season .... big lead in one game, went to overtime in the second game .... He's amazing, and people just don't seem to see it.

He almost lead us to a Victory against a top-10 Texas team in 2018 - and that game was in Austin. We went on to beat an almost good Vanderbilt team in a bowl game that year ... Vandy was a six game winner that year! What teams have Briles, Teaff, or Aranda beaten in bowl games????

Baylor almost beat Georgia in the Sugar Bowl in Rhule's last game with us - only 12 points - and we outscored them in the 2nd half ... most likely beat the spread.

If Rhule would have stayed we would have almost beaten a lot more teams!!

There was also this one time ... at band camp ... Matt almost

Brilliant lol. I don't keep up with Nebraska football, because I'm not enamored with Rhule like some people. However, I just looked at Nebraska's schedule, and it looks like they've only beaten a bunch of meh teams this year which is on brand for Matt as well, and indeed is very much like our 2019 season. The guy always did the absolute bare minimum on offense, and you don't beat the big boys doing that

I was always a fan of Rhule. But this is and was my issue with people calling him a really good coach. You have to actually win big games to be a good coach. Stacking empty wins and failing over and over in big games is not in any way shape or form what good coaches do.

I'm totally with you. I like Rhule OK. I thought that he had a good eye for talent and could also develop players much better than Dave. I just think people started celebrating prematurely in this thread. Games don't end at halftime

Could you PLEASE share this comment over on the WBB Board?

Cuz many of the CNC fan club members need to hear it.

The worst thing about CMR is that he left.

Other than that, I like him.

Same. The guy's taken over three programs in bad spots and will have ended up leaving all three in much better shape than he found them.

Is he a championship coach? Maybe not. He'll have to win more big games to achieve that.

Is he a damn good college football coach? Obviously.

His biggest sin among the Baylor fans that dislike him is that he wasn't Art Briles. But the man can build a program and will consistently field teams that compete hard and play sound, physical football. He's done it at three different stops now.

These delusional posts are what's wrong with passes for college football these days.
