Ok all you Aggies...explain this one to me. Since 2008, there have been 20 sexual assault claims levied against the Florida State football program. Only difference in FSU and BU...FSU knows how to defend itself.

I do not want a coach like Art Briles coaching my school. I don't care how badly Baylor's BOR handled it.

Now...all you Aggies that claim that honor and integrity matters...shame on you. Hypocrisy reigns in College Station! Sumlin wasn't good enough. so now your mission statement is clear...win. football. games.

Football vs. Sing, Tumbling, and Equestrian.

Your post is invalid. The two schools have different priorities.

Where is Canada 78??? Before the Regents blew up the program he kept calling for it and said he would never support his alma mater if they had someone like Briles. Well Fisher actually is what folks like Canada and now many others have exaggerated Briles into.

It is, if, as the Head Coach, you knowingly bring in players of questionable character

Two totally different coaching worlds.
Florida State knew the couldn't have a player on scholarship charged with Rape getting ready to "start". Unwritten rules and common sense. What could go wrong?
Also, Baylor did nothing to add to televisions bottom line. FSU always schedule a big early season TV game.
No player or coach was bigger than the FSU program. This is why you don't see FSU fans acting like mental midgets because Aggie took their coach.

I understand that FSU is a different school than Baylor. Big time programs handle their business differently.

Doesn't make it right.

Very fair question and one that many aggy's were concerned with early on. Most concerns were assuaged by media reports similar to the following:

https://247sports.com/college/texas-am/Bolt/Report-Texas-AM-vetted-Jimbo-Fishers-handling-of-Jameis-Winston-case-111367969

The nature of most humans is to see what they wish to see of course. I'm excited about Jimbo; so I choose to accept the above as validation on the issue.......along with the fact that these days he is not considered a pariah by many in the world of college football. Add to that, the vast majority of idiots on TV and radio are calling his hiring a big positive for the program. Additionally, both the Longhorns and LSU pursued him heavily in the last year. The only real negatives I'm seeing are in the microcosm of some fan boards of former rivals.

In all fairness though, if the Longhorns or LSU had managed to hire him I would be skeptical of their vetting. I'm human.

Good point. I have seen a post on another board that they have an "Honor Code" so they would not bring in a bad coach. Fisher has some obvious history that contradicts this notion.

I agree that Art Briles did some things wrong, but he also seems to be the scapegoat for all college sexual assaults over that last few years.

Never charged and was cleared. Is that difficult to figure out?

Art wasn't doing anything to help the network bottom line but stir of stories on controversial topics. They paid him back for not following the protocol and listening to the Big 12.

The NFL has a collective bargaining agreement and can suspend players without charges. It is bad when colleges look worse than the pros but it is all about money for the schools.

He was sitting on scholarship for one a year because of transfer rules then sat because of his issues.
Bennett was telling everyone he was starting while forgetting to tell them he had his trial coming up. Common sense would tell a normal person with situational awareness that he might need to be done with the pending case.
He didn't start or play but how did it turn out?
The robe touchers tend to justify dumb decisions based on playing time.
Should have let him graduate or told him to transfer.

Stood on the sideline, danced in a mask, doesn't matter, still in school....he was on scholarship taking up space...put it however you want to put it...very irrelevant other than zero situational awareness. Most schools would have moved on and recruited someone else. Bennett was telling everyone he was important and would be starting. Brilliant move on his part to not disclose why he had been sitting for two full seasons?

Just think if they would have come out and said "yes, he is charge with rape but our Title IX cleared him and federal law...." worked better than "oh ****, we screwed up," then Starr brings in PH to find out what happen.

Tennessee just basically threw it all out in the open and said they were too stupid to get it.

Rex, we understand. Briles wanted it and he can do no wrong. He got what he wanted. It bit him in the ass.
