Pretty impressive where we still stand in this metric given the last 2 years.

In the CFN Five-Year Program Analysis, an Elite Win is a victory over an FBS team that finished with two losses or fewer, or on the road or in a bowl game against a team that lost three games. An extra 0.5 is added on to the Elite Win score when a team comes up with a road victory over a team that finished with two losses or fewer.

As you'll notice, it's really, really hard to get a win over a great team that's why they're Elite Wins.

These are the only FBS schools that have 5 or more "elite" wins in the last 5 years:

Ohio St 12
Clemson 10
Oklahoma 10
Bama 8.5
Michigan St 8
FSU 6.5
UH 5.5
Oregon 5
Baylor 5
UCF 5

(Should have been MSU with 7 and BU with 6....it still stings)

No way. Can't be. Bad defense, score a lot of points, 2 Big 12 Championships, bowl games, crappy non-con schedule. No Way. Just NO WAY! We haven't been that good. But yes Michigan St still stings. Then again we did O.K. for Scrubby Baylor.

So you're telling me Bama does not get elite wins in the SEC but rather in the playoffs? Can't be right, I'm told the SEC is full of elite teams and if a game is 6-3 it is because of elite defense and if it is 49-42 it is because of elite offense.

Given our elite wins came in the first three of those five years, it's even more impressive to consider.

This is not accurate.

The five are:
2016 Boise State (bowl; 3 loss)
2015 UNC (bowl; 3 loss)
2015 at Oklahoma State (3 loss; away)
2014 TCU (1 loss; home)
2013 Oklahoma (2 loss; home)

One could argue that the methodology is flawed since (1) deeming a 3 loss Boise State with losses to Wyoming and Air Force and with the best win being unranked Washington State as "elite" does not really make sense if it means that 3 (if they lose away from home and not in a bowl) and 4 loss P5 teams with more difficult schedules would be excluded and (2) wins over 3 loss teams at home are arbitrarily excluded since wins over teams with the same record are included if those wins are away or in a bowl.

Given the way UCF hammered us was a disappointment. Early in the game I did say ouch. Not from stings but from a bloody nose. We were ambushed by a better team. I can accept a beat down. As for Mich St we had the game in hand until some self distructing episodes. That stung. However, your point is well taken.

UCF was a good offense and a questionable defense that Baylor bailed out with perpetual penalties. Took dominance in the trenches off the table for the Baylor run game.

UCF was not better and Baylor simply stopped themselves in a shootout. It was always gonna be a track meet but one team stoppped themselves.

Why stop there? This is the Baylor Bubble.

Let's call ALL of the patsies in 2013 and 2014 elite wins.

Wofford? Elite win!

Buffalo? Elite win!

ULM? Elite win!

SMU? Elite win!

Northwestern State? Why not? Elite win!

Buffalo again? Elite again!

If we had no business losing to UCF or Michigan State then we had no business beating Texas Tech in 2014 when a freshman put up 712 yards on us.

Falwell made the smart business move and hired Flynt's attorney. Turner Gill is the Liberty football coach. I assume this is a prediction that he is going to get a divinely inspired betrayal.

If Knight stays healthy they'd have been ranked while playing 10 P5 opponents in the regular season and narrowly losing two of their three losses to #6 and #11. Baylor dominating them was impressive.

They finish with only 3 if they keep Knight IMO. Probably take KSU's spot against UCLA who would be a much friendlier matchup than Venables and Clemson. Either way with him they were a legit top 25 team.

TCU was #9 and we were #5 played at McLane. We should have won that one.
Boise State was unranked at the time we beat them and we were unranked. No way this is elite.
OSU was #4 and we were #10 - this could be classified as an "elite win" since it was in Stillwater
OU was #16 and we were #10 at the time. The game was in Norman, Elite win for sure although we should have won .
KSU was #2 and we were unranked at the time of this game at Floyd Casey. Huge win for the Bears.
