Yeah....I'm sure the WVU fans never storm the field.

While he's criticizing fans he might want to get on to the WVU fans that chanted "No means no" at our basketball team any time they shot free throws 2 years ago.

After Beating a top 10 program, ISU has a right to celebrate but after the opposing team has cleared the field. Player safety is important

He's an idiot

These are college fans after all at a collegiate game

No one is paying them

I do however believe fans storm the field now days more than they should IMO

But oh well

No harm no foul

Actually there are. They allow riverboat casinos, which are fine in Council Bluffs or Davenport where there is a river, but in other parts of the state they just dig out a big stock pond and put a paddlewheeler in it.

Guess it hasn't been a problem at WVU because they haven't had a rush the field worthy win lately

Thank you, boognish!
Hate Morgantown. Went there 2012 and 2014. Never again.

In the history of field rushing, what player has ever been seriously injured by a throng of giddy freshmen half the body weight of any D1 player?

If it ever happens I'll join your concern, but until a Tri-Delt shanks an opposing QB with a shiv, it's just kids having fun.

Remind me what's "professional" about burning couches after a big win?

It got so bad in Morgantown that couches are no longer allowed to be outside in an attempt to reduce couch burnings after WVa football victories.

There was that incident with LaGarrette Blount that one year against Boise.

I'm aware. I had Blount on my fantasy team that year and he had a horrible game so I remember vividly cause I was watching the game live when it happened. The punch happened when fans were rushing the field and the other player got in Blount's face.

I was just about to ask you if Blount was on your fantasy team that year. Thanks for disclosing. Now I can manage to get on with the rest of my day.

You misunderstand. This isn't an issue of player safety, but rather student safety (regardless of what anyone says). One of these emotional players is going to haul off and slug some student rushing the field and it's going to be bad. The players can easily protect themselves from rushing students, but Dana doesn't need a player being kicked off the team for breaking someone's jaw during that.

Rushing the field after a big win isn't going to stop any time soon, nor should it. Better off trying to keep everyone separated when it does happen.

There are plenty of casinos in Iowa.

West Des Moines/Urbandale
Prairie Du Chien
Council Bluffs

Not that I've spent way too much time in Iowa.

You can just shrug it off like Huggins did in basketball last year.

Don't lose and they won't rush the field. Also, I'm sure they never rushed the field at Morgantown. The agony of defeat

Remember that an A&M student was killed during a Baylor game in 1926 when both sides rushed the field.
My old Baylor history prof, Dr. Paul Armitstead, told our Texas history class about it, and I used to post an account of it before our game against the Aggies on the old BaylorFans.com site.

There's a new book out about that fateful evening. I got a copy in the mail the other day and look forward to reading it.

Aggys are outliers, almost no one provokes the kind of stupidity that seems to befall them.

From drawing swords on cheerleaders, attempting to kidnap live bears in station wagons, provoking violence in field rushes, and an assortment of terrible avoidable tragedies that won't be made light of, they have a track record of recklessness with their name.

True, but that's no reason to kill someone.
(Which is what happened in Waco back in 1926.)
