Honestly, this staff is working as hard as they can to make Baylor a big winner again. No sarcasm. There are great people coaching at Baylor.

Kevin Steele was a great person. His staff was made up of nice guys.

How many bowl wins did Steele have? How many players on national watch lists? What major scandal was he rebuilding from? Not even close to an accurate comparison.

Steele promised the same stuff. Let's see how this all plays out.

Expecting NCAA to announce sanctions 2 weeks before the start of season with a postseason ban and loss of scholarships. This leads to an unexpected setback in the Rhule rebuild, maybe 6 or 7 wins. I am not sold on this staff and the defense the last 2 years makes CPB look good.

And this is what was the key in his first year. DEFENSE. I still cant get his flippant attitude about defense out of my head when he talked about "Bringing defense to the Big 12" during our Boise State bowl game. You can always tell when someone doesnt watch this league. and it was the defense that cost him games like Liberty that we should have been able to win with the back ups. Now Coach Snow is going to a defense that was similiar to what Bennett was running. We will see how that works this season since more speed should be on the field

Did Bennett run a base 3-dime package? I don't remember, but it doesn't sound familiar from him. Rhule recently said he wants to run similar defense to what WVU and ISU run, getting guys in space and using the speed too.

Without Oklahoma Drills, hard to say.

We lost to LIBERTY and UTSA two years ago. We went .500 last year. It's still difficult for me to have very high expectations for this staff.

Then you haven't been paying attention and are hanging onto a bad loss now about 3 years later.
8-17 after two seasons. Two of the wins are against Kansas.

I am not quite ready to put us back into the world-beater category just yet either.

Who says we are? It took Briles until his 4th season to get a bowl win. He got naked bootlegged in the first bowl he got to with Baylor.

We're not world beaters yet and have a lot to prove, but the progress is there.
I and many others had written this team off for dead late last season. The Oklahoma State win, the regular season finale win over Texas Tech, and the bowl win were TOTALLY unexpected. I must admit the finish to last season even gives this CABer hope for the future. Just maybe Matt Rhule can do this. We shall see.

Cost of ticket not worth the entertainment value...

No more than 4 scores over 60 yards in the season

No more than 2 scores in less than 2 minutes on the clock for the season

No more averaging more than 45 points per game on the season

No more average winning score of 20 or more points per game.

No more 61-58 thrillers

Keeping the streak against OU, UT, and TCU alive, going into season from 0-12 to ending season at 0-15 against these three schools.

No more putting in third or fourth string in at end of third quarter.

Apparently you have come to the reality that our coach is now little Matty

Just being honest to the premise set out in the original post. He is now 8-17 for his record, which much of the first year losses were on him for the way he game planned. I haven't really seen enough out of him to say we will ever be back to 10-2 at end of season before bowls.
Less that and more that he had no O-line and year 1 of a major rebuild.
Blame the no O-line problem on the Oklahoma drill. He came in wanting to run players off so he could show how great he is by rebuilding with "his" guys. I don't take his bull that there was no talent at Baylor when he got here. I think his scholarship count ended the first season somewhere in the 60's.

I still haven't seen road graders like we used to see up front.

It's his style and from a public perception outside the bubble he was well thought of replacing those guys.

We are going to be in good shape. The leftover Art Briles ERA Big 12 still is subpar on defense.

Lightweight Big 12 fans cringe at hitting while the SEC fans love it. Until defense and hitting takes place again in the league, everyone outside the Big 12 will bet the house the conference won't win the CFP.

4 gimmies (non-Cnfr and KU)
3 should's (WVU, KSU, Tech)
1 major upset win at home (TX)
1 major ass-whopping loss at home (OU)
3 toss ups (ISU, OSU, TCU)

Range: Hi: 10-2; Lo: 7-5
Expectation: 8-4, 3rd place Conference finish, plus a (9th) bowl game win

Another successful growth season right in line with the Process.............

This is pretty much what I see, as well. But think about this for a minute...

If we take care of business against the "shoulds" and "gimmies", that's 7 already. If we can win just two more between Texas, ISU, OSU, and TCU - we're 9-3.

I don't see anything less than 7 wins, but am comfortable saying we get to 9. I think we lose in Stillwater, but take one out of ISU or TCU, and the big win against Texas at home to close McLane stadium for 2019 comes to fruition. We're due, fellas.
