What did we ever do to Iowa State to make them hate us so much?

Baylor is the opposite of ISU on the luck stick this year. We are 4 plays from 9-0. They found a kicking miracle against us, got lucky as hell against Tech and should have lost to TCU.

This post I found is why they hate us right now. We are a good team and flame me if you want but we have had a nice dose of fortune to be 9-0. As a Baylor fan it would aggravate me if any other Big 12 team was 9-0 being as fortunate as we have been. Part of what makes this so fun.

I don't give a **** what any ISU fans think. They're terrible and have done nothing for the B12.

I honestly don't even think about them.

Maybe Iowa State can explain why THEY are #6 on the list of schools with the most athletes arrested for committing RAPE.

Obviously Oklahoma and Texas are both on the list.

TCU gets the honor of having the most athletes arrested for RAPE in the private school category.

Meanwhile.....Baylor is way at the bottom of the list.

We have grit for sure but the non fumble fumble against Tech had nothing to do with grit. Be man enough to admit luck when you get it. We certainly have had our bad luck in the past.

Like Tech, TCU and Aggie, they have bought into the Baylor defends and commits rape talking point. Kind of irritating and just ugly but they have fully bought in that we are the devil.

Easier to make our better program into a cheating, evil boogeyman.

1. Lot of wisdom here plumbing the depths of the collective Iowa State psyche. Several of the theories ring true.

2. One more theory: There is increased emphasis on their never better than 8 wins football team because they are no longer elite in wrestling!

3. Finally, I'm just going to say it at the risk of offending a few Bears------ I can't take seriously any fan base that almost universally considers Bud Light to actually be beer.

It's amusing to see a fan base give so much energy to us, when I don't m think about ISU other than 3 days a year (1 more if we play them in the B12 bb tourney). There is no school that is more irrelevant to the B12 than ISU. Even when we were struggling, at least we are in TX. ISU has nothing going for it, even when they have record-setting years and manage to win 8 games in football or manage to put together a decent basketball season and make the Sweet 16 once every 10 years or so, they still live in the most irrelevant state in the US. And yes, I know because of politics Iowa has become a major corn producer for the country, but let's not act like there is anything unique about a state that is flat and ugly that lends itself to being able to produce a crop that can grow almost anywhere. If it wasn't for government intervention and politics, Iowa would be as worthless in actuality as it is already in everyone's collective thoughts.

At least some of the replies here on the second page get to the answer to the op. They really don't like us for the same reason the entire nation does not. Rape, and the perception created by our school regents, that our football program tried to cover up rape for a decade. Add in the Bliss scandal, and there you go.

They wouldn't like us without those things, because we beat them, but many big 12 schools are mad we rebounded so quickly. They were happy when we self destructed, but they (also me) thought it would be a long, long time before we were relevant again.

We just have to accept the hate for the winning, and be sincere in our wish for justice in all these cases where women were assaulted.

If I was an opposing fan, coming to this board, I'd get the impression that some posters want to sweep the rape under the rug, and are cheering for "not guilty" verdicts more than justice.

Have to disagree. The second year of the Big XII ISU stormed the field after beating BU.
Really?! I don't believe you.
Here is an article that references tearing down both goal posts.

Student Body Storms Field

AMES, Iowa - Darren Davis ran for two touchdowns and a career-high 247 yards as Iowa State broke a 13-game losing streak with a 24-17 win over Big 12 Conference rival Baylor.

The Cyclones victory, their first since a 45-31 win over Missouri in the fourth game of last season, drove the student body to storm the field and tear down both goalposts.

Keep in mind "Not guilty" verdicts are nothing but justice for those "not guilty". And after reading this post I get the impression you care more about convictions than facts.

Also, like most here, I want justice for the innocent and guilty. But sorry, I call BS if Football fans on football boards claim some sort of moral high ground outrage after their team loses to Baylor and their school has as many assaults or more than ours. Its basic simple sports frustration... not some moral superiority. If someone hated us in a non-sports forum... then maybe I would buy your take.

Ok, good research. But that still has more to do with their overall losing streak than anything related to Baylor.

Yep pretty good version of it.

They think for some pre-ordained reason they should just be "better" than us.

Not sure where this thinking comes from but it causes them to be jealous.

And in a small way we do make it easy to hate us.....our school leaders/regents do come off has fake Christian hypocrites and it bleeds into feelings toward our fan base.

You're making stuff up in your head that I didn't write. I care about justice, which is why I said I care about justice. Please chill some. Other schools get to have moral high ground, our regents basically told the world that we had a football program covering up sexual assault for a decade plus. All colleges have a problem with rape, but Baylor is one of the only ones to be covering it up, according to our regents. Easy peasy to take the moral high road compared to that.

If you don't know about non-sports people hating Baylor at this point, I don't even know.

Way off base.

Their hate for us is nothing new. We used to beat the daylights out of them when we were in the SWC and played them non conference before the Big 12. ISU is one of the all time doormats in college football and their semi recent "not sucking" has gotten to their heads a bit. This is also definitely not just a football thing...

ISU likes basketball. A lot. They like womens basketball. A lot. Baylor has crushed their hopes and dreams in those two sports more times than many on here remember - dating back to some stunning upsets in the Big 12 Tourney when they were the #1 seed. ISU has had nowhere near the postseason success that Scott Drew and Mulkey have achieved. That grates on them more than you can imagine.

Their record in Waco in those top 3 sports (extend that into all sports if you prefer) is absolutely abysmal.

I personally would like to see them go to the Big 10 where they are a better fit geographically and replace them with Arkansas (even now), but that conference doesn't want them.

We only played IowaSt once before Big12: a 35-0 win in Ames in 1988.

I only recall playing them once in basketball pre-Big12: we beat them in 1990 or 1991 when Fred Hoiberg was their PG.
