May be coming after Snow. They are paying their current defensive coordinator 1.5 mil. I think our staff will be a hot commodity in the off-season.

They are in a tail spin and haven't hired a head coach yet. There is nothing indicating they are coming after anyone.

Why would Snow leave Rhule to go work for an unnamed coach that will be fired in 3 years?

I assumed he meant as HC. They have a big name DC now.

I would think as old as he is and as good as he is. If he wanted to be a head coach he would have already tried it.

Weird thread. OP mentioned what they're paying their current DC so I assume he meant DC.

Snow aint going no where as head coach. Not in his DNA and he wouldn't want to anyway.

I would think it less likely he would leave to be someone else's DC at this point of his career.

They're after the Memphis coach. He's a hot commodity and has Arkansas ties, but they're going to have to fight a couple of other schools to get him.

The Memphis HC prefers the FSU job. So that has to be resolved in favor of someone else before he goes to Ark, assuming Ark offers him. This all according to footballscoop the other day.

I completely agree. I wouldn't take the Arky job for all the money in the world. They are irrelevant in the new era of college football.

What are you basing this on?

Pure rumor and speculation based on some facts. My brother is an Arkansas grad and serves on a committee at the University. His conversations with his fellow committee members, and the comments on the Razorback forum, are all extremely interested in Rhule but don't think he will budge. However, there is some thought they can poach Snow because they are very willing to open up the pocketbook at this point. Whether or not it happens remains to be seen, but it makes sense from their perspective. No matter what, I think our assistant coaches are in for a nice payday after this season.

It would be funny if Snow worked for Frost at Nebraska.

They all already got raises......Rhule made sure of that with his extension. Not sure Pig Sooey board talk warranted any of this......

I'm pretty sure who a new DC at Ark is would be up to the new HC. I'm pretty sure they aren't going to hire a new DC while looking for a HC at the same time. Talk about stupidity. Btw Chavis is regarded as one of the best DCs in the business isn't he? He is the current DC.

I think at this point the UA fan base (though maybe not the University itself) is willing to clean house, even Chavis. They are thoroughly disgusted with their most recent head coaches dating back to at least Petrino, and most of them believe the program is a total rebuild at this point. Many just want to start from scratch. Again, I was just repeating what I was told because I thought it was interesting. It does beg the larger question of other universities that may have interest in some of our staff. And, glad to know our staff already got raises. I knew Rhule got his extension, but didn't realize that the assistants were rewarded also. Anyone know the salaries, or is there a link to some article?

Finally, there's a lot of comment about stupidity or things not making sense in this thread. Perhaps Arkansas wants to clean house and start over with defense as a priority. That would make perfect sense. Snow fits that bill. It's not a stupid thought. Snow may not want to be a head coach, but none of us really knows that and money talks. In the twilight of his career, he may want to take his shot. That makes sense, and who could blame him. And again, this is all from the Arkansas perspective- they have interest, and at this point I would say the dollars would be flying from Arkansas, or even other schools, so I'm not quite as confident as some of you seem to be. You are probably right, but it was just a thread for interesting conversation, I thought, not a chance to flame away. Ease up, my friends. Some of you may need to start drinking earlier.(!) And, I probably presented it wrong in the first place, for which I apologize.

Here's what's gold:

Arkansas, proud member of the mighty secsecsec, apparently is fully aware that the head coach of lil ole baylorU is not interested in their elite school/conference.

Not enough recruits in Ark to stay competitive. Forced to rely on TX and LA leftovers to build depth. Aggy going to SEC and TCU to Big 12 hit the pigs the hardest.

Chavis is a joke. I can't imagine him staying on under a new head coach.

I have no idea on Snow, but unless he has a close tie to whoever Arkansas hires, it would be surprising for him to leave for financial reasons.

Assuming Arkansas hires a sitting head coach, chances are his DC would be going with him to Arkansas.

I remember when they headed off to the SEC. They thought their #2 didn't stink.

Since he started as a high school defensive coordinator in 1976 until now he's never been a head coach.

That would be quite unprecedented I would imagine to get his first HC job of a P5 at 63.

Hoping he just wants to ride it out into the sunset with Rhule at BU....

Any chance Herman will hire Chad Morris as his OC?

I'll hang up and listen.

He specializes in trick plays and his QB's get a chance to work on outrunning defenses.

Arkansas is becoming a dead program.

They have no instate recruiting advantages.

Mississippi State has had more recent success.

And they have basically no hope of ever overcoming LSU, Bama, Auburn, Georgia, Florida....to be a top contender in the SEC.

I don't really know what the way forward for them is at this point.

Honestly they should have never joined the SEC but should have gone to the Big 12 with the other Texas-Oklahoma teams......those are their natural rivals and where the Texas recruiting grounds are....heck almost all their out of state students are DFW kids.

Arkansas and Nebraska are both in the wrong leagues...and are fast fading from any sort of relevance.

They get a good number of kids from Waco. Ark gives in state tuition to kids from every state that touches Arkansas. With University of Texas being extremely competitive to get into and A&M getting that way, there are a lot of Texas kids going up there for school rather than pay huge prices for Baylor, which is getting hard to get into as well, TCU and SMU. My understanding is that OU is thinking about getting in on the action and offering in state tuition to Texas kids as well.

I know this will never happen, but I'd love to have Ark & Neb back. Go to 2 divisions. Profit all the way around.

The irony is that move would help both programs, which figure to be lost in the college football wilderness with no discernible way out for the foreseeable future.

At this point, Arkansas might as well hire one of their alums who were big decades ago, Switzer or Jimmy Johnson and see if that infused some energy into the program.

Absolutely. But, it was arrogance that motivated their moves in the first place and arrogance which will keep them where they landed.

Gus Malzahn has Arkansas ties and he is on the hot-seat at Auburn. He would be a viable option for the Arkansas job. He was former OC at UA and HC at Arkansas State. I am optimistic Rhule and his staff are not going anywhere anytime soon. Where else could they have a better path to the CFP in 2020? They probably like where they are....at least for the next few years.
