Baylor junior defensive lineman James Lynch, the Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year and consensus All-American, announced his intentions of going to the NFL on Twitter Monday morning.

Lynch, a true junior from Round Rock, Texas, has been viewed as a potential first-round draft pick in the 2020 NFL Draft in April since totaling 13.5 sacks and 19.5 tackles for loss in the 2019 football season. In his three-year Baylor career Lynch totaled 22.0 sacks and 33.5 tackles for loss. The sack total makes Lynch Baylor’s all-time sack leader.

Lynch joins redshirt junior safety Grayland Arnold as Baylor’s second early entry into the NFL draft. Arnold announced last week that he would forgo his senior season and enter the draft after a six interception and 46 tackle sseason.

Don't blame you for your decision. If you stayed, would it not have been your 3rd coaching regime since you have been at Baylor? Best of luck.

Been watching this kid since he was a sophomore man among boys at Round Rock. Best of luck, Mr. Lynch!

You are correct. He was part of Rhule's first class.

I'm not surprised about Lynch, but Arnold? He could have improved his stock next year.

Are people even confident that he will be drafted?

It will be a tough rebuild on the defensive side next year.

Best of luck to him. So happy to have gotten to seen him play, a special guy I think.

IT HAS BEGUN. First Rhule cops out. Reports are that Snow is not far behind. Arnold declares. Now Lynch declares. Nine D starters are either leaving or graduating. Recruits will change their minds. Don't even think about challenging for the title next year. Rhule will leave us as empty as firing Briles did.

Rhule lied and used Baylor. And now the deluge will begin. Good luck to whomever comes in to another mess.

1. Rhule never lied
2. We were going to take a step back next year no matter what
3. Lynch was going to declare even if Rhule had stayed. He's guaranteed top two rounds. You don't mess with that type of money.
4. Recruits will always change minds in a regime change. That's natural.
5. You can be a real fan and tough it out, or you can whine about it and look for someone to blame.

Kinda hard to argue with these. (I think we may have had a chance of keeping Lynch but it was probably wishful thinking and is irrelevant now).

We might as well prepare for the other shoe to drop: Rhule is taking Snow with him.

Projected late rounder. And now a coach like Aranda is head coach. Curious, wonder if he's thinking if he should have stayed another year........

Yes, he should risk head and body injury for another year for free just so you can get some feel good.

That's right! Hate to see Lynch go because he did so much for us as a Baylor Bear. I don't blame him though for going for it in the NFL. Hope he has great success!
