Video Season Ticket - Baylor vs Texas Tech 1990

Towards the end of Grant Teaff's time at Baylor, we disrupted their Homecoming plans.

Didn't see any of their queen candidates in green and gold.

Coach Teaff recruited a lot of good people.

I went to sleep when they gave that engineering professor the mic.

I'm really glad video production has improved so much in the last thirty years!
Brad Goebel getting injured in that game was really a blessing. Mike Welch was one of my favorite players to watch from that period.

I was at a wedding in Waco of a friend who went to Tech. Was parking the car at the reception when we blocked the FG that bounced and was fumbled 40-50 yards back downfield. By the time the reception was over we were comfortably ahead.

I had forgotten that both teams had so many turnovers in that game.

For most of his tenure, Teaff had TTech's number.

A couple more Baylor v Tech highlights. These did not go so well for us.

That '91 team started out like a house on fire, going 5-0, being ranked in the Top 10, and heading for a home showdown with the aggys with only a home game against lowly Rice to take care of beforehand. They blew that game, then got trounced by the aggys the next week and were never the same team thereafter.

Sad but true. One of the few QBs I've ever watched whose performance slowly backslid from his freshman year -- and yet he kept the starting job.

Managed to make the NFL though -- and spent three years in the league as a backup in Philly and Cleveland. Not exactly a stellar career there either, though ...

First game JJ Joe got to play in. He started from then in until his injury in 93. Incidentally our current OC was at that game as a grad asst. I believe.

They had their best modern era teams when Leach - who was kinda sorta like their Art Briles - was there, although unlike Briles he never won a B12 title.

Goeble was a good kid and a good qb, but probably not the best fit for Baylor's style at the time.

JJ was a perfect fit, and a real gamer.

Before my time, but I did not realize Goebel was such a good QB ... pretty good run from Commander Cody, Goebel, Joe ... I did not like Watson at the time, but he looked like Joe Montana compared to the next 20 we had

From Neal Jeffrey at the beginning through J.J. Joe at the end, Teaff had several memorable QB's but thereafter there was a big time drought until Briles brought RGIII with him. Jeff Watson and Shawn Bell ended up being the best of the lot during that pre dominantly miserable period, but even then it was mainly because (to their credit) they both were over achievers relative to their limited talent levels.
