Easy fix. Admit the mistake. Fire Fedora. Bring in real O coach. COVID year. All good. Move on.

We've been blessed with coaches that scheme for the talent they have. Fedora is doing the opposite trying to shoehorn this talent into a system come hell or high water.
UPDATE: we're in hell.

I agree Brewers arm is not what is was a year ago, but that being said it's still pretty darn good. Why run him all the time and risk injury. Not a big fan of our back up QB, Bohanon. He still needs time. Plus he is a running QB
You need a duel threat QB to compete with OU and OSU. Or even ugh UT.

His arm is not good compared to other D1 qbs

We should have thought about trying to keep previous coordinator. We threw for 280 in 2017 and 290 a game in 2018. Took a little dip in 2019 when Charlie got hurt. Disappointing Charlie was Big 12 Freshmen of year with previous staff and now looks like a shell of himself.

Art would have been playing 2 or 3 QB's.

Possibly because the previous staff allowed him to be concussed over and over and over until the official had to remove him from the game?

"Good quarterbacks have a short memory." Charlie has a good excuse for this due to the number of concussions he has sustained. Short-term memory is not applicable to coaches.

Don't bench Charlie, but rather rotate the other quarterbacks in during the game so that the fans can see how cr**py the other quarterbacks really are. A simple way to handle this would be if you have 3 3 and outs or series that constitutes less than 10 yards it is next quarterback up.

People who think that Larry Fedora is the worst OC in history have really short memories. The list of awful OC's from 1997 through 2007 is illustrious and astonishing. We may have had the last ranked offense for 11 seasons in a row, which is a record that will never be broken.

Hopefully Fedora can get this going next year. Offense was a concern last year as well. Unless he has simply forgotten how to coach or no longer understands how to design plays/read defenses, he demonstrated an ability to run out some really good offenses at OSU, USM, and UNC.

I have only seen one poster who thinks Fedora is the worst ever. But anyone paying attention to this year would be reluctant to praise his results or ability to get the best results from the players this year.

We keep hearing how we won games we were supposed to lose last year. That's a compliment to Rhule's staff doing well with what they had. I am not blaming Aranda, because he's principally been a defense guy and the defense is playing well all things considered. But our offense is playing poorly, and in spite of things some can use for excuses there is nothing at all to suggest Fedora is making progress or doing the job we were promised from him.

Only reason Baylor is 1-5 at this juncture...is bc that didn't play any non-conference games. Had they...Baylor would be 1-8.

Hey, Bear 75605, with Your Criteria, CB wouldn't last a Q. I don't care if the young guys make mistakes. We'll be building for the future. Fedora's O is not as bad as CB makes it look.

Or, looking at with what we have seen from Charlie in the past, Charlie looks bad because Fedora does not understand how to use him.

Could be, Old Bear, but until CB learns to go through at least 2 progressions, use his eyes and head to look off the DB's, have a quicker release, make quicker decisions, quit double pumping until it's too late, I don't know.

You can't hand Gordon Ramsay a package of hotdogs and a celery stalk and expect him to make a fine meal and then claim that he just doesn't know how to use the ingredients you gave him when he fails

One could argue that those are all bad habits that the old staff let him develop or at least didn't correct.

I know better than to ask Ramsey for his opinion on my meals.

Fedora got the same Charlie Nixon had.

Fedora has not made effective use of him.

That is absolutely on Fedora.

Brilliant insight on this thread. Just phenomenal observations about football. Kinda like watching 4th graders play chess and ask what the horsey does.

It's hilarious how much this fan base blames a successful previous staff for this current unsuccessful staff's failures.

Our teams and players were better under the previous staff than they are under the current one. Let's blame the guys who won with these players and not those who can't.

Charlie went from a very good quarterback to below average in one year. I do not blame Charlie. Look at offensive coordinator and offensive line coach.

Charlie to be quite honest about it was not taken very well care of by the last staff. He had a few concussions and was still played last season. He was one of their tickets out of here and they rode him. If I recall correctly prior to this year's Kansas game we last saw Charlie unconscious for a few minutes on the sideline of the Sugar Bowl in the 4th Q. I think a lot of that has to do with Charlie in 2020.

Furthermore when I see things written here such as this thread title. It always makes me think how the passage of time and fuzzying up of memories over that time for many here has done wonders for Steele and staff.

Especially considering that Charlie's regression this season has been matched by virtually every other player on our offensive unit.

Who, other than maybe Sneed and the tight ends, has been better under this offensive staff than they were under the last?

Quarterback -- worse.
Running backs -- worse.
Receivers -- worse.
O-Line -- way worse.

This staff has taken a solid collection of offensive pieces who were good and productive players in the past and turned them into a deficient unit. That's poor coaching, plain and simple.

This staff isn't Steele bad, but it also has far better talent than Steele's bunch ever had to work with. It's hard to imagine any offensive staff doing much worse than this one has with the players it has.

We're six games in and haven't reached 370 yards in a game yet ... in the Year of our Lord 2020. That is atrocious.

Yeah. She forgot the Jack Crowe era. I wished I could. Frank Broyles, a great coach, fired him after the opening season loss to The Citadel. A Chuck Reedy mistake. FUBAR.

Trust me in no way am I heaping the entire blame on Charlie. I do think that Fedora is largely to blame. Maybe the other 2 quarterbacks are not on Charlie's level? Was Charlie better than Anu Solomon, Zach Smith, or Jalan McClendon? Don't know till you see it in the actual game!! It could be that you shake up the rhythm or create an increased level of energy (i.e. 2017 West Virginia). In addition, these are 2 totally different style quarterbacks that the opposition has seen NO game footage on. That alone may disrupt the opponent's defensive scheme. Who knows we might just find some magic. Could it hurt at this point?????
