Rhoades needs to be under serious scrutiny.

Aranda, even after a COVID year, is not even close to those awful coaches.
Chuck Reedy was not an awful coach. He got fired with a winning record.

I love hearing that "Covid Year" excuse coming up over and over on this board. Alabama, Clemson, Ohio State, and Notre Dame don't seem too concerned about Covid!

Big Boy football. I miss it.

Yes...they all have established coaches and programs.

So you miss just last year?

Hmmmm. Karl Dorrell was hired in late Feb, much later than Aranda, and the Buffs went 4-1 and made it to a bowl game. They didn't have COVID in Boulder, Bear8084?

Guy at Mizzou, Eli Drinkwitz, went 5-5 in a much tougher conference than the Big 12 and led Mizzou to a bowl (although it was cancelled).

But, yeah, you're right. We're the only one using the COVID excuse to explain a debacle of a season.

Riley, Gundy and Day were all internal promotions. That's a different situation entirely because you're keeping a culture in place and starting with some momentum. It's much harder for former assistants from outside a program IMO.

Every team was bowl eligible.

And no, it has been hard on other programs as well. To completely ignore it is being ignorant to how hard it has actually been.

But, a 2nd year do over could be great with the right OC, and new staff. Aranda's a good man who has been on winning staffs. Experience is a great teacher.
Yep, I expect Aranda to be a much better head coach with a much better and coherent plan going into next season.

We're a program that has had three successful head coaches since the 1960s. It's not exactly a fair question.

I was disappointed with the Aranda first year, esp with the offense. They are making changes. I believe it's very premature to talk about canning Aranda.

It's the off-season and a large portion of our fanbase is completely toxic. None of this should surprise you.

These changes could be a good thing for the program. If these coaches are leaving on their own or being asked to leave... good! I'm looking forward to hearing about the new hires.

I'm actually a little more concerned about the many times we will hear commentators and writers say that Texas is "back" because of their victory over Colorado.

I have thought Rhoades was a good AD and have defended him here. However if he is behind the post season moves here, my view on the matter will change.
Two "bosses" exist: Aranda and Mack. Maybe these guys who have been let go crossed one or both. Either way, if Mack and Dave are on the same page, changes get made even when you don't like those changes. It is unlikely that anything other than close communication exists between the HC and AD...certainly that should be the case.

My guess is that the difficult year exposed some personal issues that could not be resolved beyond finger-pointing within the non-coaching staff as well as the coaches. the Strength/Conditioning one is a concern, however.

As his bell cow to success (or not), and better jobs, Mack Rhoades has his hands deep into every detail of the football program. There are many signs of this, if you will remain open enough to see them.

Chide me now....believe me later. Rhoades ran the football program this year, and will at least for the next year as well.

If true this is probably the main reason we were bad last season. I would not expect it to get alot better if it is true. This has turned into bad situation we are in if this is true.

Mack made a home run hire in Matt Rhule. Maybe the only coach in America that could have turned us around so quickly. He deserves a lot of credit for that. And the book on Aranda is far from written. Could turn out to be another fantastic hire. He goes on a
smoaky every week and is very transparent and open. I always enjoy listening to him. At this point my confidence in him is very high.

A winning team that got blown out in spectacular fashion in almost half of it's games the final part of the season but the bowl game and then was decimated from graduations, injuries, transfers....

That 1-11 season had no lasting effects on the program as a whole no more than the Liberty game.
