This quote says it all and proves all you need to know about Stranger and his kind on the BU board. When he gets fired from his next job or doesn't get that promotion, when his dog bites him or he gets pulled over for speeding...whatever that next thing is, he will pull out his trump card and exclaim: THE BOR HAS A GRUDGE AGAINST ME AND IT BEGAN MY UNDOING, PAYBACK IS HELL!!!!

Where is the mute button?

This. It's either the BOR or UT conspiracy theories while ignoring the shortcomings that actually lead to Briles being fired.

It concerns many of us that hear that changes being made (and there have been 5 or 6) are not being made by Aranda, but above his head. That means Aranda will not be here long.

Who, pray tell, above Aranda really has the football acumen to make these kinds of decisions?

If you hire the guy, let him do his job for two or three years.
As his bell cow to success (or not), and better jobs, Mack Rhoades has his hands deep into every detail of the football program. There are many signs of this, if you will remain open enough to see them.

Chide me now....believe me later. Rhoades ran the football program this year, and will at least for the next year as well.

Sic'em
Mack made a home run hire in Matt Rhule. Maybe the only coach in America that could have turned us around so quickly. He deserves a lot of credit for that. And the book on Aranda is far from written. Could turn out to be another fantastic hire. He goes on a smoaky every week and is very transparent and open. I always enjoy listening to him. At this point my confidence in him is very high.
He turned a winning team coming off a bowl victory to a coach with a 1-11 season.
Are you really this dense? Rhule lost an entire recruiting class, the program was tainted, and almost all of the key players from the previous team left (that great "bowl-winning" team that ended the regular season 0-6).

By year 3, he was within an OT of the CF playoffs. He's an NFL head coach now for a reason. There are very few college head coaches that make the jump to the NFL, and Rhule is one of the highest paid in the league. There's a reason that Art never had the same opportunity.
If Art ever saw jumping to the NFL as something he had the slightest desire to do, I can't remember it.

Do you realize Rhule actively sought an NFL job since he was hired by Baylor? He campaigned for that for more years than most Presidents of the US campaigned for that position. It isn't like they approached him out of the blue.

NFL teams don't take applications like your local Cracker Barrel. Rhule's interest in an NFL head coaching job would have been irrelevant without reciprocation.

Again he would not have gotten one without constantly campaigning for it. I'm sure there are other HCs of Baylor had they taken the job as a prop for an NFL job campaign, would have also had opportunities.

NFL teams were interested in Rhule because he established himself as an elite coach and leader. His campaigning is irrelevant without mutual interest. And there's no interest without performance.

The Colts then were highly and easily impressed with that win over KU in 17 I suppose.

While some Baylor fans like to pretend otherwise, Rhule did have a successful stint at Temple before arriving in Waco. That likely put him on teams' radars. And no one outside of the bubble thought highly of Baylor at that time, so that first year wasn't held against him. Regardless, he wasn't hired after that first season, so it's a moot point anyway.

Aranda better make a home run hire at OC. Period. Or it would be absolutely dumb to fire Fedora after one year in a COVID year. I don't care what anybody says.

I'm faily sure hiring someone much better is pretty much the goal after firing the other guy. But maybe that's just me.
PartyBear

Im pretty sure he is saying is that Aranda better achieve that goal and he is right. This hire determines the fate of the Aranda era. Aranda has already set himself up in a do or die situation here.

Nah not just good....better than what he just fired. The new hire better come with more praise and credibility than the Fedora one. Or he messed up.

Yeah and our practice facility was a 35 yard piece of carpet outside of floyd Casey when Briles arrived. Aranda inherited a much much much better situation than Briles.

I very much disagree. I couldn't care less how much praise and credibility the new guy has. Aranda has zero responsibility to hire someone that we as fans get excited about with our limited knowledge. He made a hire like that about 11 months ago and it didn't work out.

I'm certain he doesn't care what my dumbass thinks about the new guy, and I'm glad.

How useful were those practice facilities this spring and summer when the kids couldn't use them, or the fancy locker rooms recruits couldn't see? CAB still had the harder path to start, but Aranda wasn't given an easy leg 1 trek for his BU coaching career. The fact he got the defense so locked in, with mostly new starters and not much practice, should be taken as a good sign. He chose wrong on his first OC that a lot thought was a safe bet, I imagine he has the exact knowledge of how key this hire has to be.

It doesn't matter if the new OC is famous or a no name. He just has to have an immediate turn around next season or Aranda is going into year 3 as dead man walking.

Fortunately they are smart enough to know that support comes with wins, not by winning a 45 minute press conference.

If they are smart, the players, coaches, staff, and everyone else associated with Baylor Athletics will completely stay away from these boards! There is far too much crap, far too many ignorant "experts", and far too much speculation based upon rumors & gossip. Oh yes, also far too much whining.
