BREAKING: 2022 Cy Ranch (TX) OL Bryce Simpson commits to Baylor
Baylor landed commitment No. 10 of the 2022 class on Sunday when Cypress (TX) Ranch High School offensive lineman Bryce Simpson gave his pledge to the Bears over Ole Miss, Colorado, Utah, Houston, SMU and others.
The 6-foot-6, 310-pound prospect joins Timothy Dawn and Coleton Price in the 2022 class along the offensive line.
2022 BAYLOR FOOTBALL RECRUITING CLASS
The Bears were the first to offer the three-star prospect back on January 29th after his stellar 2020 season. Simpson earned Texas District 16-6A first-team honors as a junior. Offensive line coach Eric Mateos and Assistant AD of Scouting James Blanchard have been key in his recruitment since the time he was offered and have maintained a close relationship with the priority offensive line target.
Baylor is continuing to build a recruiting pipeline with Cy Ranch as RJ Sneed, Drake Dabney and Romario Noel all signed with Baylor in recent classes to go along with Simpson. Christian Brathwaite is another target who holds an offer while 2023 defensive lineman Ashton Porter could be in line to get an offer.
I view him as a guard or right tackle prospect with strong upside and a frame that would allow him to be ready to compete early in his career. His body will need to be changed in college but the fact that he is already well over 300 will give any strength and conditioning staff a great frame to start with. He is a perfect fit for what Baylor is trying to do with solid athleticism that will allow him to get second level blocks and pull when asked to along with sheavy hands and a strong base for pass blocking concepts.
Simpson is currently ranked as an 88 on SicEm365 Rankings (top 75 in Texas), an 85 on 247 and a 5.5 on Rivals. Three three-star prospect should be ranked inside the top 75 in the state but is underrated as most sites have him ranked outside the top 120 in the state.
