ARLINGTON, Texas — On Wednesday during the opening session of Big 12 Media Days, the first depth chart for Baylor’s 2021 football season was released. By no surprise, a defense that returns the majority of its contributors looks to be steady while the offense still has a lot of position battles up for grabs, including a three-man race at quarterback.

Junior Gerry Bohanon, sophomore Jacob Zeno and freshman Blake Shapen were separated on the depth chart with an “or”, highlighting a total of ten on the offensive side of the ball for new offensive coordinator Jeff Grimes.

Senior running backs Trestan Ebner and Abram Smith were also separated with an or, while only Connor Galvin at left tackle held the true starting title at left tackle.

Defensively there were very few surprises, especially considering that the most notable names excluded from the chart are from players who missed some or all of the spring season including defensive lineman Gabe Hall and reserve cornerback Mark Milton. TJ Franklin, a defensive lineman with seven-career starts who was projected as a starter for 2021, also missed the spring and was listed as a backup to senior Cole Maxwell.

In all, Baylor’s 22-position offensive and defensive depth chart listed a total of 26 seniors over the three potential classes including fourth, fifth and sixth year seniors.

Baylor head coach Dave Aranda, offensive lineman Connor Galvin and linebacker Terrel Bernard will represent the Bears at AT&T Stadium on Thursday.

How long do you want to ignore this user?
What offensive line troubles? We have ten starters!!! That's twice as many as most teams.

I just hope whoever ends up as QB will be protected by the OL enough to avoid any concussions!
