So now I'm getting spam and direct marketing calls from Tailgateguys trying to drum up business. I guess they are working the season ticket/Bear Foundation list. The tailgate business must not be very brisk.

Exactly - it's much more about $ than liability. If liability was the bigger issue, there wouldn't be roughly half the SEC schools selling alcohol in the stadiums during games. I went to the BU / KSU game two years ago and they had a "beer garden" in the mezzanine level.

I enjoy having a couple cold ones at sporting events so my wife and I went to their beer garden at halftime. Ending up staying in the beer garden for most of the third quarter having some great football conversations with KSU fans.

they built an entire new endzone complex so I'm not sure if the beer garden still exists but they do sell beer still

T-Rex - do you know if they allow beer in the stands now? Before it was just in the beer garden and the only drawback was that you couldn't see the field from the beer garden (they did have numerous TVs around however).

Well then, sir, you are a dimwit. The point of Mack focused on getting a piece of revenue off tailgating for the school is 100% spot on. The fact that Baylor will not sell beer at McLane has nothing to do with a $$ consideration. You are obviously not a Baylor alumni or study of the school.

It's a college athletic department. $ is always the prime driving factor. In fact, there are no other factors. Except for stakeholder politics which may make it difficult to sell beer in the gen pop areas of the stadium right now. Give it a few years.

I have been to every SEC venue except one and I have never heard of "Tailgate Guys". There are a few enterprising students that will set up your tents for a small fee. The big SEC schools have tailgating all over campus and beyond. The schools provide trash bags and cardboard trash cans to try to cut down on the leftover garbage.

I was at a seminar on the UT campus right next door to DKR on a Friday before a game a couple of years ago. There was a crew setting up tents all over the place. So I think the UT uses the same group or a similar one or the school does it for its tail gaters. However I doubt that. If the school did it, it would have the school logo and the school colors all over the tents. These were just generic white tents.

They've been all over the SEC for awhile now. They're on the East end of Jordan-Hare in a great spot and have been for a fairly long time. It's easy to miss because of the sea of tailgating in every single direction.

I actually like the concept and there is a market segment for it, but its more niche. Baylor went way overboard in spaces allotted in my opinion.

Lol. Its Waco, people around her don't care about COVID to that extent. Did you go to the game. People look at you crazy when you have a mask on. Im vaccinated, but I work with COVID patient everyday, so I wear mine as a precaution for others.

My Father is undergoing chemo for a rare and aggressive form of blood cancer, so I'll be wearing a mask to our game next week, regardless. He has no immune system and even something minor to you or me could really harm him, especially Covid.
