Baylor climbs to No. 8 in latest College Football Playoff Top 25
In the latest version of the College Football Playoff Top 25, the Baylor Bears (9-2) reached a season high of No. 8. The move comes after Baylor’s notable road victory over Kansas State (7-4) in Manhattan that ended a four-game winning streak for the Wildcats. KSU was 2.5-point favorites in the contest.
Baylor moves back into the top 10 for the first time since the final poll of the 2019 football season when it was ranked No. 7 following a loss to No. 6 in the Big 12 Championship game. The Bears spent three weeks in the top 10 to end the season.
Prior to 2019, Baylor spent six weeks inside the top 10 of the CFP Top 25 in 2014 and four weeks in 2015.
Baylor’s resume is built on key victories over No. 10 Oklahoma and No. 13 BYU as well as victories over bowl eligible teams Kansas State (7-4) and Iowa State (6-4). West Virginia (5-6) could become bowl eligible with a win at Kansas the final weekend of the regular season.
In its regular season finale, Baylor will have an additional opportunity for victory over a bowl eligible opponent as Texas Tech (6-5) heads to Waco. The game is schedule for 11 a.m. CT and will be aired live on FS1.
Each of Baylor’s losses came on the road including at No. 7 Oklahoma State (10-1) and at TCU (5-6).
