We need more Baylor fans in New Orleans. It was SO FUN last time. Travel tips, places you ate at, things to do or things to pass on, and anything else Sugar Bowl, put it here.

The BIG XII team hotel is the Marriott on Canal. No corporate rates/AAA discounts or Bonvoy point rates available. Saw some rooms on various travel portals.

We walked everywhere, including to/from the game & only Ubered to/from the airport.

Call me an optimist, but I'm waiting until the CFP is announced.

We ate breakfast at Jimmy J's Cafe one morning and it was amazing! Really small place right by Jackson Square. Lines out the door. Totally worth it.

Call me a realist, I booked my flight/hotel last weekend. They're not going to correct their mistake with Georgia. Lol.

I'll be staying at my home, 25 minutes from NOLA. Be prepared to show vaccination id in NOLA; the mayor is a Covid nazi who is already talking about restrictions because of Omicron.

I'm sure most of the functions like the parade and fan fest will be similar to last time.

We drove from Waco last time, spent New Years Eve in Lake Charles and had a blast. Drove to NO the next morning and soaked up Bourbon Street with the kids until game time.
Drive home the next day was a nightmare.

From what I've read, negative test is ok too.

Must be within 48 hours. Most places don't really enforce it except when there are big events in town.

They said they're updating the store with Merch today, so Santa can stock up.

The BIG XII team hotel is the Hilton Riverside. It's a huge hotel. A bit of a hike to Bourbon Street, but not bad at all. Across the street from Harrah's. We stayed there last time & are staying there again.

We walked everywhere, including to/from the game & only Ubered to/from the airport.

Where did you see Hilton Riverside is team hotel?

We stayed there in 2019. If you Google around, that's the designated Big XII hotel in the travel packages. The SEC is the Marriott.

I have not been to New Orleans since before Katrina. One place I really want to go to if I ever am able to return is Cafe du Mond on Jackson Square for coffee & beignets. Delicious! If time permits, I also would visit the WWII museum which I've heard is excellent.

Room prices in decent places in Nola for New Years are pretty high. In 2019 we got a very nice Vrbo in Hammond and drove to all of the activities in Nola.
Probably do something similar this year.

WWII museum is great, Cafe du Mond we skipped because the line to get in there was insane.

We're going. Flying in on the 29th and staying through the 2nd.

Staying near the French Quarter. Got tickets in section 313.

Wife has already been making reservations for dinners and brunches.

In 2019, we booked the Hilton Riverside on selection Sunday for $250/night. If you have AAA or a corporate code, try that on the Hilton website. Last weekend, I booked on the Hilton app with my Hilton Rewards number (I have no points), and used my husband's corporate code (we're allowed to use for leisure trips), and got it for $130/night.

If you really want Cafe du Monde, you can go around to the back side, and there's a line you can get in for to go service that moves much faster.

The WWII Museum is fantastic but with all of the addition you really can't see it all in a day. For any golfers; TPC, City Park South Course, and English Turn are in great shape. For a fun little course, drop the wife and kids off at Audubon Zoo and cross the street and play Audubon Park.

That's been the rule in NOLA for a good while. Friends that have gone to Saints and Pelican games recently have said they barely look at your card or phone, just flash it and tgey wave you through.

Can you share that?

For the 2019 & 2020, the Big XII team was at the Hilton & the SEC hotel was the Marriott. Last year was the playoff, so the contractual conferences weren't there.

Just got the email. That's annoying. They need to stick with a pattern!

Whatever. I got the Hilton 3 nights for under $500 total. Not moving. Lol

I'll buy Hilton res. from you so you can get the Marriott

Lol. The Marriott is like 3 times what I'm paying for the Hilton. Plus, I prefer Hilton's for points.

I know it was an honest mistake, but probably shouldn't post something like that if you don't know for sure.

Booked three nights at the Sheraton prior to the Marriott email. Airfare prices are outrageous and about double what I expected. Booked a one stop over in Houston Southwest flight and it was almost $600 ,per person. Don't bother with a rent car and Google New Orleans Airport Shuttle instead. $44 per person round trip service between MSY and hotel.

Booked my flights from DAL-MSY via Houston on Thursday and paid $328.95 and applied a couple $100 vouchers I had to bring it down nicely. And it is even departing at 0800 instead of a 0600 time.
