But if what the Frisco Mayor says is completely accurate, how many are going to want to make a multi day experience out of that? If no dark rides, it better have some of the best animatronic shows and 4 D shows in the country.

The key also you said is that this park will be a success due to no competition. That is only true unless or until Disney decides to come to Texas and compete for the same 10s of millions in the region Universal will now have. If they do, I'm almost certain they will do something bigger than this Universal project. Disney is now potentially like the team that goes on offense second in college football overtime and the team that got the ball first decided to just kick a field goal on first down in OT.

my guess is theme parks make most of their margins on F&B
That hotel will probably earn them quite the pretty penny. The $$$ per room at WDW is insane compared to rooms of similar quality elsewhere. Universal also charges a pretty high amount for their rooms. This won't be the equivalent of a full resort like those so it won't be as expensive, but costs will obviously be much lower too.

You at least get perks at universal where as disney has been taking them away.

The express pass for everyone in the group can be worth the price tag alone at universal.

They keep pushing to see how much Disney fans will tolerate and the answer is apparently whatever the maximum is on their credit card.

A fool and his money are soon parted...Walt Disney. Did he not say this? Oh well, he at least thought it.
