Oak & Ivy is no more....

And the Butcher's Cellar probably isn't that far behind either.
One time went up to Oak and Ivy right at closing time (9:00 PM). They would not accommodate us.

Very disappointing. I would have dropped at least one Benjamin there that evening. Not really used to businesses that don't want to take your money.

And closing at 9:00 PM? If you are a bar or wine bar and closing at 9:00 PM on a Friday, perhaps you shouldn't have chosen that market or location to begin with.

I work late, come into town late, and so I eat and drink late. COVID took its toll on guys like me - and I am not even talking about the disease.

Good for them. And rude on your part. Closing time is closing time.
You assume I was rude. I was actually polite to the staff upon being told they were closing. I had company with me, and I don't make public scenes, especially in polite company.

I actually agree with you.

If you own a business, you can close yourself off to the marketplace at any time you want.

You can also run yourself out of business.

That's the only point I was making. I think the place had potential with better management, but who knows given the location.

Nevertheless, I love living in a free country, and if you want to go invest your money in failure, by all means - knock yourself out.

If they didn't have the business to stay open to at least 11 or 12 then the location or market is not good.
Genuine question, not snark. What restaurants in Waco are open past 10 on the weekends?
both George's, crickets. Olive garden, Sagrado, PF Changs, Walk Ons, Don Carlos. Thats just a few.

11pm closing time on Friday & Saturday is not unheard of. And 10pm is typically the standard for weekends and many places have 10pm on weekdays too.

To the OPs point, 9pm closing time is wack.

We are going for my wife's birthday on Saturday night. I will post thoughts after we go....

I will say, after eating here the food and service was exceptional. They have everything you'd expect from a churrasco.

One quip is that service wasn't as professional as you'd get in the big cities, similar to when opal's first opened but I feel once time progresses that'll change.

Also unsure why the FE Brunch was cheaper than the FE Lunch…

Maybe to incentivize people to come in on the weekends when they're more likely to spend money on alcohol?

Either way, the menu looks outstanding, as do your pictures! Thanks for the report.

Went for dinner on opening night and a work lunch today. Food is amazing. Still working out some glitches, but the service is great, food is delicious.
Waco needs to keep this place in business. I am still shocked that Waco landed this place, but it is great to see.

Ended up going today and I ran this morning and skipped lunch to make it worth it.

The salad bar is the best in town and I can see a few work day lunches that'll just be salad bar only in the future.

Service was good, but I'm not one to really care too much about service as long as they aren't absent with empty glasses.

My caipirinha was made perfectly and the best I've ever had.

Sides were great, especially the fried polenta.

Meat wise I thought that the lamb was great with the rest being fairly mediocre. Of course you aren't going to be getting the best steak at a churrasco for $65 so it was fine with that in mind.

The pao de queijo was underwhelming compared to comparable restaurants in the state.

Overall we were very impressed especially for the first weekend a restaurant has been open.

We'll be back, but we got out for around $300 if you include drinks and dessert. I'd generally rather go to 135 Prime for that price point with better, and less, food.

The crowd was really interesting with plenty of Joe Waco types giving it a try. Which is good for a place that will need more than just Magnolia business to survive. I'm guessing the colossal amout of food you get at a churassco will make it popular for Wacoans for things like prom and graduation.

Alright, here are my thoughts:

- Food is on point. Same level as Texas De Brazil. I was doubtful the quality would be that good but honestly they have some stuff on their menu that Texas de Brazil doesn't (shrimp skewers and ribeye were two of my highlights).
- Service is… interesting. They work as a team, so you don't have one person in charge of your table, which leads to no one taking ownership of your experience. We could not get new plates easily, our water ran out fairly consistently. I am hopeful some of this is just new restaurant stuff and they will work out the bugs.
- Restaurant is lovely and high level of finish out.
- Could definitely come at lunchtime especially just for the salad bar. Lots of great options there.
- Overall 4/5 with great food and subpar service.

Would recommend them to anyone visiting from out of town.
