Will stop being a daily "paper"…will only publish a physical newspaper 3 days a week, no Sunday "paper". There will be daily editions online.
But no more carriers to deliver newspapers…physical papers will be mailed.
Seems pretty drastic for a city the size of Waco, but appears to have been headed this way for awhile…
This is what happens when your write a paper for your own edification rather than for your market.
Prices went up.
Attitudes went far left.
And The Trib Alienated the market.
With other less expensive and obnoxious alternatives, it is no surprise that the Tribune-Herald is on life support right now.
If you think the Trib is "far left," you must be just to the right of Pinochet.
And in any case it has nothing to do with alienating the readership base. Every community newspaper regardless of political bent is flailing economically because their monetization policies are neolithic. The Texas Tribune is decidedly left-leaning and it's the most economically stable news organization in the state right now, so this "go woke go broke" nonsense is just that.
I am actually neither a Communist nor a Nazi, if that surprises you.
I am for individual freedom and small government, which means there are a whole lot of a-holes on both sides that hate me. But, I'll get over it.
And yes, the Waco Trib is too far left for the Waco market. The articles and the opinion pages clearly and without any doubt feature left-leaning spin, propaganda, and viewpoints.
You occasionally can get a balanced view in that paper, but it is an exception to the rule.
I am from Waco and still connected to thousands of people in the Waco metro, and I will tell you I am just regurgitating the response I received from my own sample of people I know who have dropped all or part of their subscriptions. And, so you understand, I don't just surround myself with like-minded people. I am actually blessed and spoiled to have so many friends of different religions, creeds, politics, etc.
Everyone should think for themselves because the moment you start basing your thoughts on the ideas and spin you receive from third party persons and organizations, our democracy is dead.
Papers shouldn't espouse a viewpoint. They should report the news. Many news organizations quit being journalists, and as a result, media of all types have suffered.
