I may need to consider moving back to Waco.

Went tonight. Our table split the Porterhouse and the Bone In Ribeye. Both were fantastic! Desserts were great, too.

Service was underwhelming but that is life in 2024.

Bring your wallet. Expensive but worth it on special nights.

Ate there tonight. I had high hopes. It's not taking the top spot in Waco at this point.

I finally got back into town and got a shot at this place. It is definitely worth going to. I still like 135 Prime, 1424 Bistro, and the BLVD better, but I still need some return trips to make sure. I love the diversity of the menu anc presentation of the steaks. The NY Strip was massive. Mine was a little overcooked, so I will try and see if they can get it right the next time.

The shrimp toast is as good as advertised, and I loved the dressing and giant bacon piece on the BC Salad. We also had the BC Onion Rings, mac & cheese, fries, and Milk Buns.

The bar did a great job with the old fashioned, though the one I made earlier in the day was better, albeit I had great bourbon available for my home version and I smoked it over cherry and oak shavings.

BC was worth the trip, and I look forward to going back for a rarer fillet and the scallops.

Forgot a pic of the Old Fashioned. House version will run you 16 Biden Dollars. The drink fearured in the above pics was the White Russian with a splash of Coke (or basically a Colorado Bulldog.)

I would agree. Went there last night, I like that we have some higher end stuff in Waco, but nothing knocked my socks off. Pretty solid wine menu, fairly limited entree selection, steak was fine but honestly more akin to Saltgrass quality rather than 135 Prime.

  • Wife Started with a spicy margarita which was excellent. Jalapeno's and strawberry, really good flavor and pop
  • I went straight for a Malbec and it was lovely
  • Did a 1000-Layer Potato...it was...ok
  • Shrimp cocktail -- half our shrimp didn't have the tail portion, half did, half had legs, half didn't. Which was odd. Sauce had a horseradish accoutrement which was actually pretty solid
  • Wife started with a BC Salad and it had so much dressing I think it was actually more of a soup, it was absolutely bizarre
  • Lobster Taco was pretty decent, not much lobster, but flavor was nice
  • Got the 16oz Ribeye and for $70 some odd I was hoping for something more than Saltgrass (no knock on Saltgrass), but thats about where it was
  • Wife's entree was a Lobster Taglialini, again not much lobster, extremely lemon-y but, she likes lemons, so, no complaints with that one.
  • Triple Cooked Fries w/ Malt Vinegar was pretty tasty, although a mistake to order after the 1000-Layer potato from earlier (thats on me)
  • I got Key Lime Creme Brulee, it was pretty good,
  • Wife got a Cheesecake Tart. The crust on the tart was so hard that each time she tried to spit it in half to get an edible chunk it sounded like a starter's pistol, it was so wildly overdone and hard.

I would not put it above 135 Prime, and probably not even Diamondbacks (although I haven't been there in a couple years). I'd probably have it at #3 in town.

That said, if y'all aren't hitting up La Bottega...you are missing out. That place is the bomb for the price. And 1/2 priced bottles during happy hour (until 6:30), that place is quickly becoming a favorite.

I thought la bottega was a pizza and sandwich only which is why I have not been. Their menu does not show any steaks?

Oh, its definitely not a steakhouse, but the food is awesome for the price while still offering some higher-end fare.

First, I haven't been yet to try it, but I do have some sympathy for anyone trying to get a high-end restaurant off the ground.

Plus, even when I've been to what are normally considered the 'best' steakhouses in the country, I've found the steaks plagued by inconsistency between visits. That hurts when the menus include an application for a home equity loan in order to cover the meal.

Give them time to work out the bugs. I've never met the owner, although I do know his father and mother, who are fine people. I say that just so you know I'm not shilling for anyone.

Yeah the salad was, I dunno. I think it sat there and no one ate it. Ha.
Went with a bigger group and we went family style.

Drinks were fantastic but pricey.
Steak and fish good but about average for a place like this.
Pork chop was above average.
Seafood plateau was good but $$$ too
Apps hit or miss. Crab crispy rice was probably fav. But crispy tuna was bad to the point I said something, not sure what it was. Tartare was a pretty solid dish and big portion. I don't understand the 1000 layer potato, pretty meh. Onion rings, fried, milk buns were fine.
Corn ribs were great and probably the best food relatively on the table.

Will be back to get through some more of the apps and want to try the burger for sure.

We loved it...went with six people and had multiple apps (crispy crab fried rice, corn ribs, 1K layer potato and a couple others but I agree with Jason in that my favorite was the bacon which was awesome. It's probably a better experience with more people so you can try more b/c it is steep.

I had a filet that was phenomenal. We love 135 Prime, too, and I'd put the filet at BC up with that as the top 2 in Waco. Very cool atmosphere and those paintings on the wall are actually of the staff, which was really funny.

Wife and I went last night. Shrimp toast was excellent. Wife loved her wedge and the bacon that came with it was delicious. Bone marrow was ok, but could have been paired better. My ribeye was good, but my wife's filet was bland. The potato aligot side was disappointing to say the least. Key lime brle and chocolate brle were both good. Wine menu was not overtop the expensive with some solid options. Like the restaurant and ambience. Clear that they are still working out the kinks, but has potential.

Been busy and out of town, finally getting to get out to the burbs to try this place on Saturday. So far based on feedback here I'm getting the shrimp toast and strawberry margarita.

spicy strawberry margarita did not disappoint. I did not care for shrimp toast, texture was off, rubbery. Everyone was pleased with filet, med rare perfection. Corn ribs were yummy, but having to pick up and eat was off putting to me. Others liked broccolini and Mac and cheese. Key lime cream brle was, ok, texture was a bit softer than I expected. Toffee pudding had good flavor but was really dry. I know it's not a moist cake but this was really dry.

Overall it was a nice dinner, enjoyed the atmosphere inside, outside it's a suburb strip mall. I really wish they had chosen to open this in perhaps the original Findery building or the Anex but understand the economics of retrofitting a historic building vs new build.

Wife and I went the other night with 2 other couples and had dinner. Food was pretty damn good. Not the best I've had in town, but still really good. Steak was cooked nicely (Wife and I split the Porterhouse). Drinks were good, apps were good. Atmosphere is really cool. We opted to have our food brought as it was ready, and we were all fine with that. Had a really enjoyable meal in a neat atmosphere with good music on the speakers. I'm sure they'll get some of the food dialed into the price range, but the ambiance and friends with us more than made up for it not being the "best steak in Waco" right now, and i'm perfectly ok with that . We'll be back.

Went tonight and left disappointed. My wife's filet was good but nothing exceptional. I had the tomahawk pork chop. Flavor was good but it was overcooked and borderline dry. The fries, apotite potatoes and Mac and cheese were good not great. Apps were the best thing. Shrimp toast was awesome and cooked perfectly. Spicy tuna with crispy rice was pretty good along with the crab stuffed squash blossoms.

Ambiance is really nice, service really needs improvement. Our sides came out 5 minutes before our entrees, have to ask for water refills. I could go on about the service. Just not at all a fine dining or nice dining experience. Will give them a couple of months to see if they can figure it out, but I would predict them going out of business if things don't seriously improve. To many other upper/fine dining places to choose from that are superior at this point.

I'm in agreement with loanbear. Wife had steak and I had the tomahawk chop. Both were pretty good but not what I would call excellent. Not up to what I have had at places like Morton's or other similar higher-end type places. Service was slow and some of the sides were a little on the "skimpy" side - particularly for sharing.

At the price point, my expectations were higher. It's early so improvement could very well happen. I hope it does and the restaurant is a success.
