Someone had asked about this the other day on a thread and we finally have an update:
Waco gets 41 bids for lighting on I-35 frontage road bridges
I understand that there have been issues with these lights, but I do not understand why Waco is having to pay for it when it was a TXDOT installation that was done subpar. My other issue is the red tape that is going to push these things getting fixed until almost the summer.
The lights under 4th and 5th and under University Parks - do they even work? They used to change colors, but now they are stuck on a purplish-blue color for the last couple of weeks. How hard is it to change the colors under the University Parks bridge to green and gold on game days?
I am all for fixing up the city and adding these features, but the city needs to do a better job of staying on top of it - keeping them functional and relevant. If you have 41 bids to fix the lighting, it should not take another six months to get them worked on. (And also keep in mind that according to the article, the city has not approved funding for the fix yet, which may delay it further.)
