I called to cancel and got them to lower the price back down to $10.99/mo.

If you are hit with the same change, it might be worth 5 minutes of your time.

Journalism is not free. To get local coverage, it's gonna cost money. I gladly pay it.

I switched to on-line only years ago. Have held the price constant by making that phone call.

And they have been advertising that you can opt out of the ads by paying an extra $10 a month….. wonder if anyone really does that.

The high school sports crew does a solid job and Mike Copeland is fantastic for a city Waco's size.

When he and Conine go that will likely be the end of decent coverage in the WTH. The younger folks don't seem to have it.

In the papers defense they do seem to do a good job of being very pro Waco which I appreciate.

I did the same thing and then 3 months later they went up again. That is when I cancelled (it is hard to do) and I just use SMRY.ai to get past the paywall now.

I really wanted to support local journalism, but when you have to talk to people in India about your subscription and they use dirtbag retention tactics, screw em.

I cancelled. They kept charging my card. I'd call again and cancel again. They'd charge my card again. I finally had to cancel the credit card they had on file and open a new account for them to stop charging me.

At least it's going to have information on local events..I'll give 'em a "look see" before forming an opinion on the product itself...and I appreciate their efforts to put out something of local interest.

The Trib will be dead by 2030.

Back in the 60's, used to have a paper route for the Waco Times Herald and the monthly rate was $1.98 for 7 days a week. Times have changed.

I totally get the frustration as I am a 50 year subscriber. Higher price for an increasingly inferior newspaper. I seriously considered letting it lapse as I contemplated writing a check for $429.49 for 26 weeks. I then did a little calculation and decided that at about $2.35/day I could hang on for a little longer. At my age, I consult with the obit section as much as the sports section.

Waco has an overpriced newspaper full of 3-5 day old news that is printed in Bryan-College Station and then delivered twice per week by U.S. Mail - if at all. Wut?????

Meanwhile, 30 miles down the road, Temple residents can still purchase a daily paper at less cost that is printed in Temple and delivered to your front door by private delivery. What is wrong with this situation?

I'll tell you what. Have Mike Copeland and Bryce Cherry get together and print a five page daily of business, sports, and obituaries. Deliver it on my doorstep, and I'll buy it.

go to Waco Tribune app and scroll to obituaries at the bottom and read them for free, every day. I've been doing that ever since the Robinson's sold out.
