It's not Baylor putting it on. Therefore they can sell beer. Baylor still produces the football games, so no beer.

This is actually a Baylor event.

Actually, it's not a "Baylor event." There is an outside production company -- Doussan Music Group -- that is producing the concert. They approached us and we are allowing use of McLane Stadium and our staff resources in a revenue-share arrangement.

Of course, we are helping sell tickets to the concert, as it's in our financial interests to do so.

Would be great for this to be an annual event. Think of the artists you could get to come play 30k seats. Would love to see someone like Sturgill Simpson come.

I think beer sales at football games will be happening in the next year or two. (I hope)

I'm excited for the concert and really hope there are no incidents over the weekend involving students. It seems like incredibly bad timing to have freshmen moving in Wednesday and 40k non-Baylor affiliated w/alcohol on campus Saturday.

There are full Welcome Week activities scheduled for freshmen all day Saturday, with a big event scheduled for them at 8pm that evening.

If/when the freshmen get alcohol, it won't be from the vendors at the stadium.

Correct and that is not at all what I indicated my concern was.

This reminds me of old school "Baylor Bubble" attitude. There are half that number of non Baylor people drinking alcohol hanging out at McLane before and during home games in the Fall

The baby bears will be just fine. In fact I bet some come to the concert. What better way to start your Baylor journey than a little music, then a week later seeing Baylor beat Auburn.

She isn't worried about students drinking/ having issues. More so there a lot of people moving in so out and about during the time there's a concert clearing out possibly with people drinking and driving. Not specific to baylor concert but just a big concert right on campus. Pretty reasonable concern.

But Jason Coom already said there's a big event going on for the freshman moving in so this was planned

What the hell? I didn't think I said anything that would cause anyone to want the site to be shut down. If what I said was somehow bad, I can say tremendously and I mean terribly worse things have been said here.

I appreciate your effort at diplomacy, but the stated concern makes no sense whatsoever.

Students moving into residence halls that day? Ok.

Concert at McLane letting out around midnight? Ok. Alcohol present? Ok. Sounds a lot like a night game, other than you can buy $15 beer in the stadium rather than just getting tanked up at the tailgate. Likely there's also a cutoff at some point before the concert lets out.

First weekend as a freshman is "run from the cops so you don't get an MIP when the house party that you wandered into is broken up weekend". That starts at like 2AM and the concert goers will be long gone by then.
Noooo evidence for that, babeeyyy, just maaade it up.

What an awesome night and concert, I thought everything went great. We took the boat so didn't have to deal with parking which I heard was an issue. There were plenty of beer vendors if you just didn't go to the ones in the middle. There were no fights or overly drunk people I could see. Heard lots of people who it was their first time at McLane comment how nice it was and ask why they didn't do more concerts, hopefully we do more in the future. Never thought I would see the day I would be sitting in McLane with buddies from college drinking beer, smoking joints and singing some of our favorites songs, well done by Baylor and all involved. Can we please have beer for football now!!!

Incredible evening. REK playing the late, great Charlie Robison's My Hometown was just the icing on the cake during CCR's finish.

Huge crowds and tons of beer and food sales all night - hopefully it all ends up being a huge positive for Baylor. Thought the sound was 100% better than the Turnpike concert at the AAC in Dallas their last time through. Hot - but nowhere near as bad as it could have been for August 23.

Only suggestion would be to tighten up the time between sets - 12:20 am is pretty late to end a concert that started at 5:00. Guess Waco doesn't have a curfew for last song like a lot of other cities/venues?

Agree with all that. It was outstanding. And what a finale. Rek with the Charlie Robison tribute. Whole crew joining in for boys from Oklahoma and then finishing off with some Guy Clark. Pitch perfect finish.

I was there with some non-Baylor people, Waco Aggies, who were super impressed and had to begrudgingly admit how nice the stadium was, how cool the whole set up was, and how great it was for Waco.

With some small common sense changes, the beer and alcohol sales could be greatly expedited and improved. But I would still love to see the numbers.

How much were beers?

At $15 per, that would equate to 166,667 beers, or approximately 4.5 beers per attendee.

You could probably use a per head figure to back into a reasonable #. $400k for every $10 spent per person. What do you think was the average? $30? (2 beers)? Probably lots of $0s and lots of $60s, but still... That would gross $1.2M.

I'd use something similar to what I did for catering weddings. 2.6. But if bump it to 3.6 due to the crowd. 3.6 x 13 x 36000 would be $1.64mm. That's still a strong figure if close

I knew you'd have a better guesstimate, having been in the business. Thanks.

Tend to agree the per person at that concert had to be higher than what you'd do for a wedding, in part because it was hot and lasted for 7 freaking hours.

Extrapolate that over 6 or 7 games and that would buy a nice shutdown secondary.
