The same Czech developer that is redoing the Texas Meter building into Pivovar, now has plans to put a $100 million 'sky-line shaping' tower next to Magnolia.

If you haven't heard of The Pivovar, they are putting in a Czech-style brewery (think lagers) and a Czech-Texas fusion restaurant. I dunno.....Brisket Goulash?

A Marriott AC Hotel is also being built in that area.

How tall a tower can you get for 100 bucks? At least 6 feet?

I'm ready for Pivovar and glad to see plans coming together for this adjacent property. This is prime real estate and hope they can put the right plans in place and pull the capital together to make it happen.

Julius Kramaric, an attorney and sports agent from the Czech Republic, already a force behind the Czech-inspired Pivovar restaurant and brewery on South Eighth Street, now envisions an office, retail and condo project next door with a pair of buildings that would tower over most others, if not all, in Waco.

A finished product probably is four years away, Glime said.

During conversation, said Glime, Kramaric expressed his desire to include towers taller than the ALICO Building at Fifth Street and Austin Avenue, once the tallest skyscraper in Texas at 22 stories.

Uses the building will encompass remain a work in progress.

"I think it's still up for conversation, and Julius wants input from the city, collaboration on what's best for the site," Glime said. "I'm sure retail is going in there, and there has been discussion of high-end penthouse condos with 360-degree views of downtown, the Silos and Baylor University. Apartments are a consideration. So is multi-family. Entertainment could not be ruled out."

i thought the 'Why Waco' response from Kramaric was interesting. His answer is that there's a large Czech population in Central Texas and big celebration in West.

I'm confused by the verbage in this article. It says Julius Kramaric wants 2 buildings but then shorthly thereafter the article says building, singular. Is this going to be 2 buildings or just one?

I just hope they can get these buildings, or building to have some class A jobs.

If he's going taller than the Alico building there need to be fire escapes on the outside, otherwise it wont look right.

Temple is where many of the Protestant (Bretheren) Czech families settled.

The Czech Catholics settled between Waco and Dallas in communities like Tours, West, Abbott and Ennis.

Oddly enough, the Bretheren Czechs settled in and around German Catholics in Westphalia,.

His initial introduction to the area was some West residents and he has good friends there now. He's a very interesting guy to talk to.

Also home to some of the best klobasnek/kolache ever. Don't want to start a war, but I'd put Zabcekville's Green's and Temple's Kolache Kitchen up against just about anyone.

Best way to enjoy Green's is to go in on a hot afternoon, let them pull a mug out of the freezer, then fill it with beer. While enjoying that, order a sausage burger.
