It's a new year at Baylor and that means alot of new people are meeting each other for the first time.

What is the best place for a first date in Waco? Any other suggestions besides a restaurant? Snipe hunting? Watch submarine races at the cliffs overlooking the Brazos?

What did you do for first dates when you were at Baylor?

This is not really pertinent to your topic but you jogged a memory. On one date with Sue , I couldn't afford a movie so we went to the 25th Street Theatre and I got popcorn. We got a coke and parked . The amount of money kids have to spend these days is a lot different. I got $10 a week for gas, Sunday night dinner, incidentals, and dating. Of course gas was 17 cents a gallon

I think college students should refrain from the 135 Prime, 1424, Diamondback's, et al. unless it's a really nice formal. This sets the expectations WAY too high.

First dates at that age should be fun, relaxed and an expression of who they are. Something quasi-athletic like bowling, putt-putt, paddle boarding/kayaking, hiking, walking along the Brazos/Suspension bridge. Add a lunch or dinner and maybe some ice cream or foyo.

My first official date at Baylor was with another Baylor girl with whom I worked at a video store. We were friends for sometime. We finally went to play putt-putt with another couple after work. It was a little too late to eat so we went to Koehne Park to look at the stars ...

... 29.5 years later, we've been married 25.5 years and have three kids and two dogs. I'm lucky that she kept me after all these years.

Take a date to a really good hole-in-the-wall restaurant. If she likes the food and doesn't care that the decore isn't all that, she's a keeper.

Magnolia Table. I hear it's where all the cool kids hang out.

Concur, and Waco has a boat load of those places.

Mine does. But, I think they usually go out in groups and then peel off together.

Yes, my wife's sister had their wedding reception there in '93. I forgot why they closed other than economy and location.

On Crash's suggestion, I once took a girl to Chili's.......worked out just fine.....26 years, two kids and some seriously needy pets later, happy as I could be.

I remember eating there ~ '94 or 5. We were celebrating anniversary, birthday or some such. We were seated next to Chuck Reedy and his wife. I remember telling my wife that Baylor needed an upgrade for HC.
Little did I realize the sheet show that was to follow his departure.

I would say:

Clay Pot
Moroso
Milo
PF Chang's

Di Campli's is awesome but maybe sets the bar too high.

George's. Downstairs in the old George's. That way you can figure out whether she's worth taking out on a second date.

Tanglewood Farms was our first date (after seeing a Baylor Theater production of Trojan Women that was required for our Theater Appreciation class). Not sure how long ago Tanglewood Farms went the way of the dodo bird, but that new urgent care clinic next door to Twisted Root sits on the land where it was located (I think)...
