Waco Restaurants - Best Pizza (not Italian in general - just pizza)

It may be an Italian restaurant that has great pizza. But this thread is focused on pizza. We'll get to Italian restaurants later.

Feel free to include areas near Waco.

I like the bar area of Poppa Rollo's but it's mainly for their cold beer and pizza. But, I'm only in Waco 10 to 12 times a year and don't know any better.

What does everyone else have?

Slow rise slice house is probably the only other option that isn't a full scale Italian restaurant.

I'm thinking this list can include Italian restaurants that have great pizza. Just hoping we can focus on the pizza side and not slide into cannelloni.

I really like Portofino's pizza quite a bit. Straight up NY style, right down to the orange grease. I love Moroso, and quite enjoy Slow Rise and Shorty's as well.

Yeah it felt like most people didn't even know it existed, much less ate there. That's probably why it lasted a year or so.

Yeah it felt like most people didn't even know it existed, much less ate there. That's probably why it lasted a year or so.
The death knell of the restaurant/service industry is not knowing you're there, or not being good when they know you are (somehow, there's some legacy restaurants in Waco where the second point is ignored).

No, but I had Itza Pizza in Penland in the late 80's.

They should have had a question mark at the end.

Not much had changed with Penland Pizza by 2007. That was straight up garbage.

Moroso's does great pizza. I love it! Everybody has their own idea of what they like in a pizza, but Dan does it closest to how it's done in Italy. Of course that's not necessarily what everyone wants.

Last time we were in town we went to Di Campli's for dinner. Had a great experience. I think it had been open for about a month. Saw Coach Mulkey there with her family

We need a moment of silence and appreciation for the late Mary Baris, who made great Italian food available to the masses.

Anyone who offers great food at a low price and allows me to draw ranch dressing from a bottle at the table is near to God to me.
