Now I feel kinda bad we clad our new house in shou sugi ban a couple of yrs ago.

If you're supplying the bricks for new baylor builds, I'll back off my 'love the clean lines' stance Maybe the new Football ops and tiny arena will be all brick.

Looks like something dreamed up by a German architecture firm. Is it portable?

There's a clickbait site on FB listing the "Ugliest Building in all 50 States." About half of them were brutalist buildings on college campuses built in the late 60s/early 70s.

Be gentle with that wonderful library. Before it was built, one had few choices for a serene "movement" after a rough night at George's..topped off by a huge dinner from the Italian Village or the legendary gravy covered, open faced Hot Turkey "sannich" from the old Elite. The stalls at Carroll Science or Tidwell were ghetto compared to the cool ,clean, marble stalls at the "new" library. I think I actually fell asleep in those plush surroundings a few times..after completing the mission, of course. :-) :

Agreed about the Turkey sandwich from the Elite. It was also available 24 hours--allowing BU students to engage in their converstational skills with north/south bound truckers on the VERY modern and newly constructed Interstate 35.

Thanks. The campus is amazing, especially given that the college was founded in 1960. Of course, Virginia has a history with beautiful college campuses (Richmond, UVA, W&M, Washington & Lee).

What you don't see in this picture is the 4 large light towers that will run the height of the building and through the roof. This building will start going up mid November.

Christopher Newport was a colonial invader. His statue should be pulled down.

It's more of a museum. They have exhibits there in the form of "books" (google it, they were widely used a long time ago).
