The narrative that officiating helped the Bears is still just unreal to me. Clearly I was watching a different game than these people.

This is a Doug Gottlieb/UNC fans fueled narrative.

Well, it fueled to everyone else. Anyone who's not a Baylor fan is pushing the bad reffing in over favor narrative.

Can't wait until everyone and the media quits talking about this. They won, we lost. If the refs were truly trying to "help us win", we would be playing UCLA this week not UNC. I'd like them to explain the poor calls against us or lack of call for us for most of regulation and OT. It's like everyone else is just now discovering how horrible college basketball officiating is. Eventually everyone will forget this except for some idiotic UNC fans.

I think mostly everyone is mad that a blue blood media darling was almost on the wrong side of March madness history and couldn't run an injured/sick Baylor team out of the gym.

Part of the issue I have is that they are totally missing some blatantly bad calls that went the other way. The Flagler out of bounds with 2:02 to play was huge, such bs that you can't review that in OT.
Bacot intentionally tripping Sochan as he tried to get up and down the court. If Sochan got a T for the scissor leg (he deserved) , why don't he get it for and equal action?
Again, it's like those plays and many others had no impact. And tied of the Manek elbow being called questionable. Any fan who thinks the refs had any clue that by throwing him out we would then be able to tie the game is delusional.

Not surprising that the country club ACC fans don't like how Big XII teams play defense. Virginia is the only ACC team that consistently plays physical defense.

Still a bunch of garbage that we drew UNC. Who had an easier 2nd round game, Baylor or Houston playing an Illinois team with no athletes and Oliver Miller?

UNC got into the bonus within the first five minutes of the second half. The complaints of lack of fouls are a little sad.

Most people only paid attention to the end of the game. Even then, they should have seen some bad calls both ways. It was clearly flagrant 2.

The ejection of Manek was only questionable in the sense that most judgment calls are questionable.

Did the refs let stuff go? Probably. UNC played soft and when you play soft and turn the ball over you're not getting the calls.

UNC got into the bonus+ in what seemed like first 5 minutes in first half. To be fair we achieved the bonus with 7:23 mark second half (I thought we'd get it at the 7 minute mark). Seems fair to me. As for 2:02 left out of bounds call - not good. My question? What's the difference between 1:59 left in game vs 10:00 left in game? A bad call is a bad call. If not mistaken Arizona got the benefit of non reviewable out of bounds call with about 2:30 left and went on to win a close game. I'll definitely watch a Duke/UNC matchup. The refs will be in a pickle. Which jersey do they favor? I'm thinking Duke. After all Duke jersey + coach K's swan song has got to be worth bonus+ at each half 7 minute mark. No joke intended.

The arguments that the officials helped us is ludicrous:

1. We had more thousand them in the game: 27 to their 26
2. We had three starters who found out they had only one player who found out.
3. The Manek ejection was not unusual (except maybe in a tournament game). He himself was ejected in a 2019 OU-K State game for the same reason.

Let me add one . . .

4. They won!

Normally, it's the losing team that complains about the refs. NC won the game, and they're still complaining.

Of course you're right. It's so amazing that they whine so much after winning the game. I cannot imagine how pathetic they would be if they had lost.

I've got to agree with the closing line of the article:

"This is the game that will be talked about for years to come and will be a core memory for any college basketball fan."

But I wish it would be memorable because the Bears won, like 61-58.

This will especially be the game everyone remembers if UNC wins it all.
