Michael Jordan, I believe, had a 48-inch vertical, highest ever in the NBA.

David Thompson?

You are correct.

David Thompson Vertical Jump
One of the most amazing things about David Thompson's vertical jump is what he could do in the air. He stood 6'4 tall and weighed 195 pounds while playing shooting guard and small forward.
More importantly, he had a standing vertical jump of 44 inches and a max vertical jump of 48 inches, which puts him way up there with the highest jumpers in the NBA.

The other player at 48-in max vertical--Wilt Chamberlain.

I find that hard to believe about Wilt. That's not the only thing though

I find that hard to believe about Wilt. That's not the only thing though
If they had put the rim at 12 feet, Wilt would still have dominated.
