Regardless of the stats, this team needs to be blown up. To many pawns instead of royalty pieces. We will have a decent season but this team has no chance of making a splash and maybe barely making the Big Dance.

Serious, Drew has some great freshman coming in but he needs to empty the bench of all but a 2-3 players and hit the portal hard.

The roster management hasn't been great with some bad fortune mixed in but agree. It isn't a total no fault thing since we have two guys in the program that can't give us anything at the high D1 level. They whiffed on those guys and then whiffed on the transfers (so far). That's 4 guys on an elite program roster that can't give us a lot. I think the culture emphasis keeps them from pushing guys who do everything they are asked but just aren't good enough out. We're eating that loss now.

I mean I know you can't tamper but Houston has 2 or 3 perfect fits (6-7 to 6-8 high motor, good D, good rebounding, adequate offensive skill guys) for this team. Tech had 1. But they weren't in the portal.

The pieces will be really good next year but the experience gap will be there now at the guard spot. Drew was a early adapter with transfers and now needs to fill in the gaps next year. With JTT back, Josh continuing to progress, the two larger guards who can both create, and Grimes (who should be able to handle the ball with some explosion).. we should be in a slightly better position and can resume the tough defense with skilled offense approach.

Hurts to lose at Iowa St. but guessing that Tang was the magic in Baylor basketball is stupidity.

We won a National Championship with a mature experienced team. Those guards on that team were exceptional players. All developed by Coach Drew & staff. Sadly K. George won't stick around to become a great player because it's too much to pass up the NBA illusion. Losing Everyday John hurt because he plays with heart like Flagler but we need other guards to step up. Against ISU, George was barely there. George & the rest of the team just got a taste of playing in the toughest conference in college basketball.

It will be a tough, competitive year.

I trust Drew to navigate it and have us prepared for the tourney.

Prediction? 11-7 the rest of the way for 20 wins in the regular season.

Drew hit on all cylinders for several years. This isn't his fault but it just happens in life.

I suspect he will make some tough changes at the end of this year. He needs to.

Injuries - why no one can hold him responsible, there are just some players that are injury prone. Have to adapt...

CSD has clearly made it an emphasis to work it inside, either via dribble or pass.

I like this 1st half versus TCU.

Revising from 10-8 to 8-10. Many teams took care of business tonight at home against superior opponents. We had a 17 point 1st half lead and couldn't get the win. Brutal

We get LAZY on offense. It drives me nuts.

This reminds me of the highly talented teams that found ways to lose and were sent home by Yale and Georgia St.

Let it play out. It's early January. At least we didn't lose to NC State by 24.

Our offense will carry us and we will still outscore a lot of people. We have to find a way to shore up our defense. It's scary though because I don't think we have the personnel to improve defensively.

Right. So we cant settle and waste possessions. We CAN do it right on offense. Defense...we just dont seem to have the athleticism.

I never said our assistant coaches suck, but our season is not off to a hot start. Not sure what is so hot take about what I said. Notice I said Baylor sports in general. I think we've had a problem retaining good position coaches in football as well

I'm adjusting my record prediction to 4-14

After tonight's disappointing play, I'll adjust to 8-10. We've (to some extent) collapsed in the last two games and can play defense to save our lives.

It's all a guess nothing wrong with being wrong on a prediction, mine was 8-10 and that's going to end up being wrong

Move this thread to the WBB board and a lot more people could end up being right.

It's hard to develop talent whey they are here for only one year.
