I like this kid. I don't get a superstar attitude vibe.

We are signing 5 star kids but Drew knows how to find the right 5 stars that will contribute to our culture, not take away from it.

The best part was what Key said at the end about playing for an audience of one. That's all that needs to be said. By the way, the natty team had that very mindset.

I agree. He seems like a good, team-first guy.

I've been hard on Keyonte at times, but most of my criticisms have focused on competitive and/or emotional immaturity. I think he does some goofy things situationally in terms of in-game decision-making and he occasionally displays bad body language and sulks when things aren't going well. But I've never gotten the impression that that he was a selfish kid or a cancer of any kind.

He's very engaged with and encouraging of his teammates and would seem to take well to coaching. I've been very pleased with the way Key has responded the last couple of games to some uncharacteristic struggles in the three or four games prior. When he plays within himself, takes good shots and doesn't try to do too much, he's an excellent player, and we're seeing more of that as the season goes along.

I've noted a lot of the same things. I believe the body language has been much better lately

This is why I feel cheated as more of a college basketball fan than NBA fan.

Guys like Keyonte and Cason Wallace at Kentucky and, well, pretty much all 1 and done kids are obviously supremely talented but they also still have a lot to learn. You can see the NBA potential watching Keyonte's body control, ability to score, ability to zip passes through lanes, etc. But, you also see the inexperience that comes with being a young man who is just in his first year of college basketball at a high level so you know there are going to be mistakes.

I venture to say the Keyonte of 2024-25 will have worked out most areas where he is not as strong now. The only thing is that he will have been in the NBA by 2 years then and we, as college basketball fans, don't get the benefit of watching that growth with our team. Yeah, I know. Sounds like sour grapes. And I'm certainly not in favor of holding these young men back from doing what they ultimately wanted to do and rightfully getting paid big bucks for it.

Keyonte seems like a great overall young man and I'm glad we at least got him for 1 year. And, Drew and his staff continue to amaze me on how good they are at finding kids who fit their exact culture. They are willing to bypass recruiting top 5 stars who they know are just not the right fit for Baylor. And, they seemingly do the same thing with transfers they identify.
