KU has by far the easiest remaining schedule

Without Miles...KU only has 2 ranked teams left - 1 at home.

I agree.

In case anyone was wondering how brutal our remaining schedule is, ESPN BPI as of 2/16 has the following remaining SOS ranks:

1. BU - 1
2. OSU - 4
3. OU - 5
4. ISU - 6
5. TT - 7
6. KU - 12
7. TCU - 15
8. UT - 16
9. KSU - 17
10. WV - 24

Answer: The brutalist of all.

Best training there is for a NCAA Tournament run.

Lotta ATs in front of Baylor's schedule. Fortunately they have proven to be pretty decent on the road outside of debacles at Marquette & Ames.
Hard to feel confident though given how bad our defense has been all year.

Brutal. If we drop 2 or 3 of these hopefully it won't affect seeding too much.

It does raise an interesting question. The league has self cannibalized to a certain extent. Is it a guarantee that the Big 12 champ is a 1 seed?

Right now Joe Lunardi has KU as a 1 seed. A case could be made for any of these 3 top teams to be a 1 seed based on who comes out on top during this final stretch. Going to be a fun (nerve-racking) next couple of weeks and it's not even March!

The league should change the B12 Tournament. Let the teams locked for the tournament a weekend to rest/get healthy for the NCAA Tournament and make it a 4 team event for those needed the auto-berth...
IowaBear

Yeah that would be fair…. You have a minimum of 5 days rest that's if you make the title game and play in the NCAAs Thursday. Rest is a pitiful excuse for teams who flame out early in the dance. The hate on here for the B12 tourney is weird. Maybe because we **** the bed every year in kc. We could use the extra games in KC. We've only played with a full roster for 4 games and Drew has said multiple times this team is far from a finished product due to that

If the Big 12 changed the format to that...I can guarantee you that the NCAA would not give the winner an automatic berth....as it is not a true conference champion.

Just throwing the idea out there - - each game in the B12 is a physical battle and that takes a toll on the players during the season. I'd rather see our legs fresh for the Dance than run the risk of injuries to win a league tournament that means nothing...(I'd rather have a Final Four appearance than a tournament league title)...

Just my opinion which means not a lot..

Agreed 100%. League play is already a brutal self-cannibalizing endeavor compounded by a grueling, and meaningless, conference tournament. Low-key hoping for a 2nd round tourney loss like our OSU loss during our title run.

Conf tournament isn't meaningless to those teams that are on the bubble. For us that hasn't been the case for some time. I don't think the conference wants to give up the autobid, but there should be some ways for the established tournament teams to manage the grind of the extra games. Maybe rest the starters?

Ain't nobody winning 4 games in 4 days in KC..too grueling..we've tried to do it twice...one of the teams with first round byes wins it.

That would cost the Big 12 a lot of money.

And that is why it will not change.

This year in particular should be very lucrative because of the strength & parity of the conference. These games will be meaningful. For other conferences, maybe not so much.

I agree, it's a haymaker chance for the underdog and gave us a chance at the big dance back in the day. I meant meaningless from a current Baylor perspective.

Thankful that some on this board are in no position of authority. This makes 0 sense.

Translation, you only want the Bears to win when it's convenient for you. There's still a ton to play for. We can lock in a 2 seed with a strong finish and a few W's in KC. 1 seed is still a possibility as well. Count me in the minority but this years tournament means a lot for seeding and getting EJ more and more game reps for the dance.

What do you mean, convenient for me? I will watch my Bears play whenever/wherever. I think the hay is already in the barn as far as seeding. Would winning the big 12 tourney move us from a 3 to a 2, or a 2 to a one. Not so sure abou tthat. On the other hand, 3 games in 3 days is brutal and only exposes us to fatigue and potential injury. Risk / reward favors going one and done in the big 12 tourney. Just my opinon.
IowaBear
How long do you want to ignore this user?
The hat is far from in the barn. We have 5 grueling games left. None are guarantee W's, lots left to play for seed wise
Crawfoso1973
How long do you want to ignore this user?
I meant the hay will be in the barn after our regular season is finished. Not so sure winning big 12 tourney would do too much to improve seeding.
IowaBear
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Gotcha, depends I'd think. Say we finish 4-1 ( remarkable with the schedule ahead) then we're probably locked in to a certain seed. But if we struggle down the stretch which is possible with that schedule than perhaps a strong showing in KC moves us a up a notch or 2

I think our unlikely path to end in a two way or three way tie for the B12 Title is...

-BU beats Ok St on road and ISU at home
-UT loses to TCU on road and beats KU at home
-KU loses to TT at home and loses to UT on road

That would put us and KU finishing at 12-6. KU losing at home to TT is the most unlikely part of that scenario.

KSU can also get to 12-6 by beating OU at home and WVU on the road.

Most likely finish:

Kansas are conference champs again with 14-4 record.
Baylor, Texas & K State in a 3 way tie for second place, all finishing 12-6. The only likely alternative would be for Texas to beat Kansas. But I don't see any of those teams losing any of the rest of their games except, obviously Texas or Kansas will lose their last one. In fact, we are the most likely of the top 4 teams to drop one since our opponents are in the middle of the conference & arguably are somewhat better. (I don't think we will lose either one).

After losing to Baylor, Texas goes to TCU with Miles playing and then host Kansas. They could end conference play on a three game losing streak.

That would be wonderful!!

We're still behind KSU as well. A lot would have to happen for us to grab the 2 seed in KC. I'd prefer the 4 as that's a likely matchup with iSU. Much rather play the clones than TCU
historian

We have no chance to win the regular season title. I'm still hoping we can win the KC tournament. It would be nice to claim another conference championship even if the regular season title is more meaningful.

Can't win title outright. We could be in a 2, 3 or 4 way tie for the title, but in every instance we would be the lowest seed of the co-champs because we were swept by KSt while everyone else split with them. If UT beats KU (which is necessary for there to be a tie at the top) then each of BU, KU, UT and KSt (pretty much guaranteed top 4) would have split the season series except KST's sweep of us.

I should have said "virtually" no chance. Same difference: Tech is not going to win in Lawrence. Kansas will probably win in Austin. They will probably win the title outright.

The best we can hope for in the regular season is second place. We probably will have to share it. I don't mind sharing but I'd prefer to win outright & a regular season championship would be sweet. It's not going to happen. Too many losses.
