Is that how his name is spelled?

Skilled player. Jerk. Will not play a minute of NBA ball. No problem with that. Lots of guys are good college players but not suited for the NBA game.

Here's the difference with him. He thinks he's cool. He's not self aware at all.

Remember two years ago when Baylor exposed him? It will happen every time he plays big boy basketball.

Plus, I laughed when he made a shot tonight against five white boys playing for Saint Mary's….and flexed his skinny little arms.

Sad, and hilarious.

Timme has played a whole lot of big boy basketball the last four years.

He has wins over Texas A&M, Oregon, Washington (x2), Arizona, North Carolina, Kansas, Auburn, West Virginia, Iowa, Virginia, Okahoma, Creighton, USC, UCLA (x2), Texas, Texas Tech, Memphis, Michigan State, Kentucky, Xavier and Alabama, in addition to lots of wins over good St. Mary's teams in conference.

You can not like Drew Timme's demeanor or on-court persona without saying silly things or drawing goofy conclusions about his playing career.

Drew Timme is an elite college basketball player and has been for three years now.

I said he was a good college basketball player. I said he was not going to play a minute of NBA ball. I said he was a jerk. I said he got exposed by Baylor.

He is a good college player who has played on very good teams often surrounded by great teammates, so he was on teams that won lots of games.

Tell me what I said that wasn't true.

He acts like a jerk and tonight's flexing his skinny little arms whe he made a shot against Saint Mary's, like he just dunked on Shak, is symbolic of his career.

They are a nice team. Skilled. Good veteran coach.

Would they be in the top 25 if they were in the Big 12?

Remember 2010 in Houston?

You could say that about any team not in the Big 12.

You worded it in a way to make it sound like he was playing at the local Rec center. St. Mary's is a really good team.

Wrong. I would not say what I said about the co-champion of the SEC, Big 10, PAC 12, ACC or a couple of other conferences. I said that about the co-champion of the WCC.

The co-champion of those leagues would, of course, be in the top 25.

….., and yes, this is an exceptionally good Saint Mary's team….their best in 13 years.

What I saw on the floor tonight is not a top 25 team. Are they better than Duke, North Carolina, Oklahoma, etc?

Perhaps they are. I just don't see the physicality and depth. Maybe I'm wrong.

Drew Timme is a good college basketball player. Not even great. The last game he plays in the NCAA tourney will be the last meaningful basketball he ever plays.

I'll bet $1,000 he plays more than one minute of NBA basketball. Want to take me up on that bet?

He may not end up being a great NBA player and he may have a short professional career, but he'll play more than a minute in the NBA.

Go back and watch the Bu natty game and tell me again how elite DT is. All he contributed to the game was B roll shots of laying on the side of the court following his humiliating performance as a trainer tried to stretch out his back. He will be in NBA, for a moment, play bench backup. Those of you expecting much from him at the next level will be disappointed.

On another note, the color of the 5 guys is irrelevant. Ur comment seemed to suggest that white players are inherently inferior. Pistol Pete, Larry Bid come to mind as well as some big International players who are dominant in the NBA right now, Luka. That cheap jab at a multitude of people groups was not helpful to people of any color, white or otherwise.

Real head-scratcher here to create a thread on Drew Timme. I mean, who TF cares about Gonzaza or Drew Timme. Timme is a great college player with little to no pro upside. Hundreds of college players fall into that category. Again, who TF cares? I don't get it.

OP is spot on. This guy is hyped up by the media like he's the next Larry Bird. He's a good player in a very mediocre conference where he's allowed to play by 'superstar' rules. He travels almost every time he gets the ball in the paint with his stupid little 'post moves'; then he struts back up the court like he actually did something.
Well I ain't no greenhorn!!

According to https://evanmiya.com/

Time is the third best offensive player in NCAA, but equally bad on defense. Which basically just proves out what most people see with their eyes.

His game is great for college, but won't translate at all to the NBA.

He's slow, not a good 3 point shooter, and he's super old by NBA draft standards.

What I don't understand is that he has the physique of a 12 year old… do they not have a S&C coach at Gonzaga? His legs look weak.

Most Zags players have the same physique as Timme. That was a big talking point during the Natty game vs them. The BU players literally looked like grown ass men compared to the Zags. And that was a veteran Zag team.

I think it's more of a statement about how odd it is that St Mary's has so few blacks on their team, especially playing meaningful minutes. At least that's how I see it. I may be assuming too much & have not watched them play this year but I have watched our tournament game against them in San Antonio several years ago & noticed the same thing: lots of whites, few blacks. (Our D frustrated them greatly, including the coach's son in his last game for them. I don't know if he has an NBA career.).

It doesn't mean that any particular group is inherently superior of inferior only that there are lots of black players with high levels of talent & it's strange that a major team would not recruit them as much as everyone else. It is. Noticeable difference.

I played against his Dad. Pick up leagues around Dallas. The talent in Texas suddenly brought a lot of spotlight to Texas basketball.

SMU had a lot of good people on their team, especially the year they won the SWC. It was an odd time for them, John Shumate was a good coach, but it was clear he wouldn't stay long.

A lot of guys on that team traded basketball for an education.

Just seems like that's not the style anymore.

Disagree. The measure of a player is not the NBA (that seems to be how many children you can spawn from different baby mamas).
How many players have had a career comparable? He stayed with one team 4 years and his team went deep in 3 with this year still TBD.

I'd argue that the measure of the man is what the health of his family looks like 20 years after his college career.

The question wasn't about him as a person. All of the talk has been about his basketball playing abilities. He's probably a fine man, but this thread is that he may not be as good of a basketball player as some have hyped him up to be.

IMHO, I think much of the hype about him has been as a college basketball player though - which he is a great college basketball player. There hasn't been much hype about him as a pro player.

I don't get why college basketball fans care so much about the NBA careers players will or won't have. Drew Timme is a college basketball player. What he does as a pro is literally irrelevant to a discussion on his abilities as a college basketball player.

The same is true about a lot of these freshman phenoms who play one year of college ball and don't make a meaningful impact on their team's success or future (This isn't directed at George, crawfoso). Who cares what they became or didn't become in the NBA? We're talking about college basketball.

There's a very long list of guys who were elite college basketball players that couldn't make it in the NBA for whatever reason. That fact does nothing to lessen the types of players they were in college.

The guy has averaged 17.0 points per game for his career with a 61.8 field goal percentage and a player efficiency rating near 30, while claiming scoreboard over some of the most storied programs in the history in college basketball.

How exactly is he overrated? Because Flo Thamba is a tough matchup for him? Timme has been excellent against basically everyone but Baylor. That Baylor fans use those two games, and not an enormous body of elite post work, as the referendum on his career is beyond weird.
